? about Gap/Old Navy 6-12 month sizing

I was going to order DD some stuff online, but am just wondering how their sizing is.  After getting used to the 3 month range of 0-3 and 3-6 month clothing, 6-12 just seems like such a huge range to be considered one size.

Will my DD just be swimming in it?  DD is in the 75% for weight and 50% for height.  FWIW, the Carter's 3-6 footed sleepers are just getting kinda snug on her.

Re: ? about Gap/Old Navy 6-12 month sizing

  • My LO has been consistently just about the same percentiles as your LO (75th weight, 55th height).  He switched to 6-12 in Gap/Old Navy around 5 months old.  He's now in 6-12 and 12-18 but the 12-18 fit his waist (the pants) but are too long.  Hope this helps.  Your DD is precious!

  • Are the weignt/height guidelines for Gap helpful?  DD is 95% for height and 85% for weight...most onesies and shirts I've bought her there in 6-12 work well but I bought her a pair of jeans in 6-12 and they were way too short.

  • I've found that ON/Gap seems to run a bit smaller on DD than Carter's and some other brands. She's already wearing 12-18 month stuff from Old Navy. The tags give height/weight guidelines as well as a month range, and I find that to be more helpful. GL!

  • Their 6-12 mo is sized for a baby that weighs 17 to 22 lbs and 27" to 29". Hope that helps ;)
  • DS has been in 6-12 since starting to wear 9 month Carters.  He's getting snug in some stuff now that we're transitioning more to just 12 month stuff and less 9 month.  He's about 23lbs and 30.5 inches.  He started wearing 6-12 around 17lbs and 26 inches.

So I guess it is pretty accurate for us.

  • DD is 17# 11.5oz and 26.75in.  The ON 6-12 month size tops fit her well, but the bottoms are really snug around her waist.  She's wearing carters 9 month clothes and they fit her well, and she's in 9-12 month sizes in some other brands.
