Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

If you have had 2+ babies-full term

I was reading in my week by week pregnancy book and there was a note that generally speaking boys weigh more than girls at birth and that babies tend to weigh more the more pregnancies/deliveries the mom has had.

Just wondering if this has been true for you.  I am skeered of having another 10lb'er and want some stories to cling to about how your first was a biggie but your second was only 7lbs :)

ETA: Just saw Berri's post.

  • 1st DD: 7lbs 1oz, 2nd DD 7 lbs 4 oz....not too much difference

  • My daughter would probably have been the same weight as OR outweighed my son if she'd been born on the same gestational day.  She was 8.13 at 38w6d, DS was 8.15 at 39w4d.

My mom's babies each got smaller.  I was the biggest, #2 was the middle, #3 was the smallest.  #1 and #3 were both 2 weeks overdue, #2 was a week early.

  • Libby was 7 lbs 14 oz. and Lucy was 7 lbs 3oz...so we got a little smaller lol.

I have heard that boys are bigger. I have a friend who had 2 girls (both around 6.5 lbs) and then her boy was 8lbs 8 oz...sooo who knows.

  • DD1: 7 lbs 13 oz, 21 inches

    DS: 8 lbs 14.5 oz, 22 inches

    DD2: 8 lbs 6 oz, 20 3/4 inches

     My mom had

    DS1: 7 lbs 6 oz

DD (me) 8 lbs 9 oz

    DS2: 10 lbs 8 oz!

  • DD (11 days late) was 6lbs 10oz

    DS (10 days late) was 8lbs 5oz.

  • Kate would have been a moose if she'd been born full term.  She was 8.1 at 38w.

    Ben was 8.12 at 39w5d.

  • Each of my babies was bigger than the one before.  But that meant my girl was the biggest of them all, so for me this was partially true

    DS1 - 6lb 3oz  DS2 6lbs 10oz  DD - 7lbs 7oz

  • My DS was 7 lbs 12 oz.

1.5 years later my DD was 8 lbs 14 oz!!

  • Both were born at 38wks.

DS was 7lbs 5 oz.  (I gained 35lbs with him)

    DD was 6lbs 11oz. (I gained 19 with her)

Not that much of a difference, especially with the difference in my weight gain.

  • DS1- 8 lb 15oz

    DS2- 7 lbs 1 oz

    pretty big difference

  • This also scares me to death.

    DD was born 40w3d at 9lbs .05ozs

I am having a DS and if he is bigger than that my lady parts will never be the same!  LOL!

  • Here's a story of hope for you:

2 1/2 years ago, my SIL had her first DS at 40w 4d.  He weighed around 10 lbs.

She just had DS #2 at 39w 2d.  He weighed 7.5 lbs.

    It can happen!

  • both were born a little over 38 weeks (DS by induction, DD by her choosing, lol).

    DS: 7lbs6oz, 20.5 inches

    DD: 7lbs8oz, 20 inches

so not a huge difference at all.

  • My DD was 8lbs 3oz.

My DS was 7lbs 13 oz.

    Not too much difference!

  • I'm no comfort either. Mine followed the pattern you mentioned exactly. But my first was a girl and second a boy so maybe that had more to do with it. Also my 2nd is still huge. He's 19 months and still off the growth charts for height and weight so I think for him it was genetic not just birth order. I am a bit scared about #3 though.

    #1DD: 7lbs 5oz

    #2DS: 9lbs 4oz
