pink eye question

If a baby has pink eye, the actual eyeball is pink, right?  The skin around Vivian's left eye is all red and she's got a lot of yellow eye boogers.  She just woke up from a long nap and it was really crusty and gross.  :(  I looked it up online and it seems like pink eye actually makes the white of the eye pink, so this is more likely a clogged duct or something?  True?

I'll call her pedi if it's not better by tomorrow, but I remember hauling DS in around this age for the same thing and pretty much being told to go home and wipe with a warm, wet clothe.

    When Camy had pinkeye, the white of her eye was very bloodshot/pink, her eye was puffy and she had the green goop that would crust her eye closed throughout the day. :(

    If the white of V's eye isn't pink or red, I would guess its something other than pinkeye.

    This is going to sound silly, but from what I've been told you can actually have pink eye with out the pink eye--KWIM?

    Sounds like what we are going through right now. I posted about this yesterday. I was told to do a warm, wet wash cloth and rub the corner of the eye. Its not too bad, but I just noticed it yesterday.

    It's all the same thing =) fancy and not so fancy words for infections of the eye. We rarely culture them so who knows what organism it is, it just usually gets better with drops of antibiotic either because it's bacterial or just over time because it was viral.

    Are you nursing?  I've heard that you can use breast milk and it will clear it up.  I don't have any personal experience though.

    DS is getting over pink eye right now.  The white of his eyes were never pink, just the lids and around them were pink and they really weren't even that pink.  He had yellowish goop on them before we started the ointment.
