Where do you even begin to look for a daycare? I am hoping to find a home where someone only watches a few children, but where do I look for one? Where do they list their services? I would prefer not to use a big kinder-care or one of those, just for personal reasons.
Has anyone else began the search for who will take care of their darling LO when they return to work? Where did you begin?
Re: How do you locate an in-home daycare?
We've only ever sent DS to in-home programs when searching for care outside of the home. You can utilize word-of-mouth, or Craig's List is a popular place for these people to advertise.
You need to ask yourself, though: do you want licensed or non-licensed? There are some benefits to both, as I've seen.
This. I found PA state's listing for in-home daycare centers on Google. I feel better sending LO to a provider who has plenty of training and is investigated by the state. We are using one for two days per week, $40 per day.
I'm in Chicago, and our DC is a friend's mom.
Since you are in Illinois, I know several friends have found in home DC on sittercity.com or even craigslist.
I did a quick search and found this:

Thank you thank you thank you!!!
I used Craigslist. I sent a million emails, made a lot of phone calls, and by those responses visited a handful of home day cares. After going to a few it becomes clear which ones are good for you and which are not.
I honestly think the best option - if possible - is word of mouth. As neighbors, co-workers, FB friends.
