been up since 2:30am w/ painful contractions, Waited until 6:40 am to go in. Contractions were regular about 5 min apart, but they kept checking me and only 1 and a half cm dilated..no change after being there for hours. LOTS of pain!! cant walk or talk when I have them. The contractions the last time on the monitor were back to back, doubling up, non stop every 3 minutes. They are all off the charts in intensity, and they still sent me home! The gave me a shot to relax me while iw as there and I managed to sleep which only helped with my crazy hair and dark circles. I've been home for a few hours, slept a little more. The pain is sitll unbearable, but I guess thats just not enough. the pain is def. a 9 when i have the contraction, all in my lower back, hips, thighs. They had the nerve to say, well if they get worse and you cant walk or talk through them, call us back..umm ya why do you think im HERE! Guess I have to just deal w/ this severe pain?? I dont want to call them back because im just so angryy. god help them if i get there and I'm too far into labor that I cant have an epidural.
Re: Frustrated w/ L&D
Sorry you're frustrated.
Have you tried a shower to see if it helps with the pain at all?
They are probably not keeping you because they want you to be at least 3cm before being admitted. And while it sucks a lot right now, it will probably be a good thing in the end. You're not on the hospital's clock to deliver within a set time, and that lessens your chance for interventions.
I hope you make some progress soon so you can get settled in and meet your little one!
Bloggin' It
ditto this...I had prodromal labor with DD and it lasted a few days, but wasn't that bad. Even when they 'kept' me I was barely over 1 cm. I needed an epidural to relax and then I dilated very quickly.
If it's unbearable, call and get either ambien or if it's too bad for that then go back.
This happened to me with DD. It lasted for three days.
The nurses were giving me the same thing "you'll know when you're in labor!" I wanted to punch every one of them. I actually went back in to be induced, because I couldn't take it any more. When the nurse checked me, she said "we can't induce you... you're in active labor." I was 4-5 cm and 100% effaced. I had NO idea, it felt EXACTLY the same to me.
One heavenly nurse told me that she thought it was the baby's position. She told me to come back in as often as I wanted, because it probably wasn't going to feel very different. She suggested crawling on my hands and knees. If I knew what I know now, I'd get on spinningbabies.com and start trying to get that baby in a better position and then go in to be checked again.
((hugs)) I know exactly how much this sucks. I hope things turn quickly for you!! GL!
