The Aidan hates peas post reminded me of this story.
We started Avery on solids at 6 months - she had butternut squash as her first food.
I was going to do all the veggies before I introduced any fruits because I had read some babies won't do veggies after they taste fruits.
So MIL and I were at Jason's deli - and I sit down to eat and Avery is in the highchair just hanging out and she saw me eating and started just FREAKING out.
I of course didn't have any foods with me, I tried to nurse her. NO! Homegirl wanted FOOD. So I went to see if they had a banana I could buy and mush up and apparently they were out of fresh bananas. My ONLY option was to take the bananas out of the fruit salad mixture (strawberries, yogurt, melon - three "allergen" foods)... I carefully scraped as much non-banana off of the banana - and fed avery with a plastic spoon.
While I was doing this - I kept telling her - "Girl, You are getting PEAS next for making mama break these rules"
So we tried peas next and you know what???? she LOVED them. Couldn't get enough...
Oye....
