Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Anyone have a smaller baby the second time around?

I've always thought and expected my 2nd baby would be bigger than my first. Isn't that the way it typically goes? However, Jack was 8.8, and Cooper was 7.6. I just thought that was odd. Anyone else?

  • DD was 2 ounces smaller (8.13, DS was 8.15) but she was also earlier (38w6d, DS was 39w4d).

  • Technically he was bigger. He was in there 11 days longer and was only 3 oz bigger so if they would have both been born at the same gestation he would have been smaller.  I also measured small my whole pg and had many u/s because of it.
  • Madeleine was 8lbs2oz and Gabe was 7lbs11oz.  But M was 8 days overdue and G was 10 days early.
  • Not for my SIL.  First DS was 8'3, second was 6'4.  Both were about a week early.

  • Lucy was 7lbs 3 oz. and Libby was 7 lbs 14 oz. So-they weren't too different. Lucy was also born at 38 weeks exactly-while Libby was born at 39w 2 days.
  • Yes. A was 7lbs 4 oz and anywhere from 10 -14 days early. K was just a couple of days early and weighed 6lbs 12 oz. Everything about her was smaller and she continues (she's almost 3 now) to be small for her age. Just how she was made! :)
  • Get out of my head!  If my phone hadn't rang we'd have posted at the same time.
