Moms of girls with long hair

Do you use conditioner on your dd's hair?  We use a kids conditioning shampoo, but as her hair gets longer I think she needs a seperate treatment.

What do you use?  We've done the spray-on detangler and that didn't work.  Do they make kiddie versions that are tear-free?

TIA.

  • every other day (I wash her hair daily) I use my shampoo and conditioner.

  • DD does shampoo and a separate conditioner and then we follow it up with detangling spray.  If we don't have conditioner during the bath, we use a leave in conditioner instead of the the detangling spray.
  • Yes.  They make tear-free kids conditioner.  It's at every grocery store and Target.  Not hard to find at all.
  • I use regular old adult conditioner on DD and make sure to comb it through well in the bath.  I also use a detangler most mornings.

  • I only wash DD's hair every 2-3 days. I use Matrix shampoo and conditioner, same stuff I use. She has really long hair and a lot of it. There would be no way to comb it out if we didn't use a conditioner.
  • I use Suave kids Shampoo and Conditioner on DD.  Both are tear free.
  • I use California Baby sensitive conditioner on her and don't rinse it out.  Works really well.

  • I use the Burts Bees stuff and am just careful not to get it in her eyes.

  • I use leave-in conditioner on my dd's hair.  I just think it's easier than having to rinse it in the bath plus I use it too.

Not sure if you blow-dry or not but I think using a leave-in provides a lot more heat protection.

  • We used to use Johnson's Buddies Conditioner:

But I can't find it ANYWHERE anymore! When we were visiting DH's family in Brazil I found a bottle there and bought it, but they were too expensive to stock up.

So after we finish up the bottle, I'm clueless.

I've heard you can mix conditioner and water in a spray bottle and make spray conditioner, but I've never done it.

  • I use leave in conditioner or the Fairy Tale kind.  The fairy tale one keeps lice away.  I don't rinse it out.
