Question for Factor V moms

Hi! I had my daughter last August. I ended up having a severe placental abruption. It wasn't until much later that I asked my dr. to test me for clotting disorders since there really wasn't a reason for my abruption. I ended up being diagnosed with Factor V. We are trying to get pregnant again, and I was wondering if you guys got on blood thinners before you got pregnant or after you got a positive test? Thanks!

    I have Factor II and was put on lovenox shots after I got a positive test.

    I have MTHFR as well. With DD I was on baby aspirin while TTC and went on lovenox once I had a BFP. This pregnancy I was on baby aspirin while TTC and didn't go on lovenox until HB was confirmed. There is debate that going on it too soon can cause bleeding, which I did have spotting with DD and had a SCH, in fact, they told me I had MC with her...long story...anyways, it seems all OB's are different, but it seems to be OK to wait a bit.

    While I was PG with DD, I was diagnosed with Prothrombin Gene Mutation and Lupus Anticoagulant. I developed several blood clots in my brain and had a stroke and was in a coma at 9 weeks PG. Because of this my heme wants me to be on Arixtra while TTC. I have been taking shots for 3 months already, and at $360 a month - I BETTER get PG quick!! LOL!

    Because of the severity of what happened to me, my doc wants me on it while TTC but she said that if I didn't have clots in my brain it would have been ok to start them when I got a pos HPT.

    In my bag: Nikon D90; 35mm 1.8, 90mm 2.8 macro (my fave), Lensbaby Composer with macro extensions. BFP after 13 cycles and one ectopic. Lost left tube 5/19/10.

    I have FVL hetero and MTHFR hetero.  My OB has me take a baby aspirin a day and my hematologist has me take extra folic acid while trying to achieve.  Then, I go on 40 mg. lovenox daily after a positive hpt, and go up to twice daily in the third trimester.  Good luck!
