Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Feeding every 1.5 hours

all day long. Today he has been breastfeeding and falling asleep while nursing. I've tried waking him up by stroking his cheek, flicking his feet and nothing works. He is up every 1.5 - 2 hours. My nipples are sore. My breast are drained. For the first time the feel like they did before pregnancy. I don't think there is any milk in them after all his feedings today. I hope he isn't going to go hungry

Re: Feeding every 1.5 hours

  • One thing you might try is getting a cool, damp washcloth and rubbing his head with it while feeding. We had to resort to that a few times when N was little to keep him awake during feedings.

As for the rest of it, hang in there! Things really do get easier!

  • He won't go hungry, but it's exhausting. Try drinking a bunch of water, that can help you at least feel less like you're empty, even if it doesn't technically help right away.

  • He's probably hit a growth spurt. I felt that way w/ DD at that age. I couldn't believe she could possibly suck any more milk out of me, but she did.

  • Sounds like she's working to up your supply. You'll be better in a couple days.

Oh I hope so!!! I have been trying to sleep when he does but I am exhausted. I haven't even bothered pumping today. Takes too long and there is no way there is anything to pump
