I've been stuck on this as a girls name..
Kailyn/Kaylyn Marie... what do you think?
I mentioned it to one of my friends at work..and her response was ewwwwwwwwwwwwwww... if you name your baby that.. I'll have to just call it "baby" bc i won't call it that name..
eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek. not a good response.. and yet another reason to not mention names to people..
Re: thoughts on this girls name..
I really don't like it, sorry!
As bad as I think the name is though, I still can't believe people actually respond like your coworker did.

I don't mind Kailyn. Kaylyn is awful.
If you have your heart set on it just don't tell anyone else. And your "friend" at work is an ass. That's so rude. Unless you asked for her opinion but they way you worded your post it didn't sound like it.
This exactly. I have stopped asking people's opinions on my names IRL because of the reactions i got to some of them. That is why i love this board lol!
I do not see the issue with Kailyn Marie and why your co worker would go to the extent to say she will not call your DD by that name if you name her that. The name is not bad at all, and i actually think it is very pretty. I had a childhood friend named Kailyn and i always loved her name, this is also why it is not on our list because it reminds me of her. We opted for Kaylee. Good luck!
Keep the friend. In fact, buy her a nice drink.
Ditch the crappy name.
This, exactly!
I like it. I like the spelling Kailynn or Kaelynn better though.
I think that response was very unnecessary, which is why I am not really telling people our names. People are weird.
This exactly- sorry! It's not awful though!

Okay, so your friend was really insensitive to say that. If If I hated the name choice of a friend or family member, the worst I'd probably say is that it isn't my style, but that I'm glad you're excited about it or that I don't care what you name her, I'll love her no matter what. Then you'd get the hint, but you wouldn't feel upset with me if you ultimately chose the name. I've been through that, too, it sucks!
Anyway, since you asked for an opinion in addition to telling the story... I'm sorry to be another dissenter, but I strongly dislike both and particularly Kaylyn. They seem like an alternative to/misspelling of Caitlyn, a name that I really like. That's just my opinion, a random stranger on the internet!
