What to do for the nurses?

I really want to do something for all the nurses who took care of my babies.  I was thinking about baking some cupcakes or something.  Does this sound like a good idea?  She was in different 2 NIC-U's so I need something small and manageable.

  • Who doesn't love cupcakes?!? Martha Stewart's one bowl chocolate cupcakes are really easy to make and super tasty- I've never had them turn out poorly...

  • I made a poster of my babies in the NICU and coming home. They had some from other families hanging up and I know the nurses loved looking back on them.

  • I've made cupcakes/treats a few times for the Nurses.  Food is always good.  I also mail pictures of Katie every holiday.  They love being able to see the babies grow up.  We saw some of K's nurses at the MOD walk today and they all told me how they love getting new pics!
  • Everyone loves cupcakes.  Or you could send an Edible arrangement to the NICU.  :)
  • I like the cupcake idea. I gave our NICU a huge apple pie from a well known bakery in the area. They all loved it.

  • I sent them an edible arrangement when I got out the hospital, one when Lucas got out, and I got one for when Elena got out plus I baked them cookies. Also, I included a card with a very long message on it. Seriously, they were so amazing and it really helped me to know that my babies were in good hands.

They loved it! I think baking something sounds really good.

  • I have plans to do something for the NICU nurses too when we leave but because I was in the hospital for 7 weeks prior to her arrival, we wanted to do something for the amazing nurses who took such good care of me in the antepartem unit, so we went and got 3 Cheesecake Factory Cheesecakes and took to them with a thank you note with the address to my blog so they could keep up with us and Mallory too!  They loved it!  We still go peek in and talk with them while we are in the hospital.

May do the exact same thing for the nurses in the Intermediate Nursery.

  • We brought food quite a bit for the staff.  They always loved it.  One parent brought pizza for the unit the day before discharge.  We didn't do anything for the entire unit but gave gifts for her primary nurses.  They were personal.  One nurse we got a few bottles of good wine (she liked good wine), one we got patriots tickets for (a big fan), another a gift card for a restuarant.  I think anything they do will be much apreciated.  We also wrote personal letters to each of them thanking them for their hard work.  I think that is what they liked the most.

  • We brought a lot of food along the way, but the night before we were discharged we brought a cake that said, "I'm outta here!!  Love, Sarah".

We'll be taking 15dzn doughnuts to the hospital on her birthday to split between my OBs office, labor & delivery (I was there for five weeks) and the NICU.
