I've been looking at changing tables (or small dressers to use with a changing pad) to go with the crib we bought for LO and have had a hard time trying to decide. I've had several friends tell me that they never even used their changing table...they usually used the floor, a bed, or sofa to change the baby. But then other friends say they used their changing table all the time.
Is anyone not planning to use a changing station? What are your thoughts on having one or not?
Re: changing table/dresser
we don't have one in the nursery. we do have the one that came w/the PNP and we are using the PNP w/the bassinet height in our bedroom the first few months and have been using the changer on it. but, as pp mentioned, in the other rooms, if a diaper needs to be changed, we just do it there. we have one of those diaper caddies w/all the equipment that travels from room to room, as needed.
We're in a small, one story home ... and we used the changing pad on the dresser for almost every diaper change he had (at home) up until about 9 months or so. After that, he was way too wiggly and it was safer/easier to change him on the floor. I just put the pag UNDER the dresser, and when I needed it, pulled it out to the middle of his floor to change him there.
But yeah, in the beginning, I would say it was a necessity. UNLESS you have a two story home and his room is upstairs ... then I would say you could use the PnP downstairs or somthing for the most part.

I'm doing the same.
