Is this weird? (shower question)

After reading one of the posts from earlier about who to invite to showers, I was wondering if it's a little weird that none of my friends or family have mentioned anything about throwing a shower.

I'm not expecting anyone to have a shower, but I thought with this being our first there would probably be one from DH's family, my family, friends, close neighbors, and co-workers.

When did others approach you ladies about a shower?

My best friend brought it up the day I told her I was pregnant. She's a total planner though, so I don't know that she's the best example to go by!

I didn't get anything said to me about a shower till after we found out the sex at 20 weeks.

I always thought baby showers were supposed to be a surprise. I had 3 with DD and didn't know about any of them beforehand. It seems like everyone on here knows about theirs though but I'm sure mine for this one will also be a surprise! You have plenty of time so I wouldn't be concerned.

For DD, I had 2 surprise showers (one was co-workers, the other was my family & friends) when I was around 33 weeks. But my MIL also arranged a card shower for me around 25 weeks. Usually people don't start getting gifts until after you know the sex of the baby and have already registered.

I don't remember when people started talking about it but all my showers were in my 3rd tri. I didn't have my work shower until my second to last week there! I'm not sure how big your family is, but sometimes family members aren't sure who should throw it, so it takes a while for them to start talking to each other:)

We decided we won't find out the sex of the baby - but are still registering...probably registering in May.

my best friend also told me she wanted to throw one when I told her I'm pregnant. She asked me to pick the date and she's doing the rest.

My mom staring planning the day I told her as well. She is having two because the family is so big! My boyfriend's side hasnt said anything. Maybe there will be a surprise shower?

i've always wanted a surprise shower, but my mom brought it up the other night. so i dont really think its going to be a surprise anymore considering she said i have to decide on a date! oh well!

One of my good friends brought it up after we saw the heartbeat. She's literally the only friend I have who would throw me a shower and I know the reason she jumped on it so fast is because of how long we've been working toward this pregnancy...

I'm pretty sure your family is going to be giving you a shower, maybe they want it to be a surprise for you. I had a surprise shower 9 years ago and I was told I was going to someone's surprise birthday party so you never know.

My two best friends called me and offered to throw me a shower when my first trimester was over. I never thought I was going to have one, so I was quite surprised, and happy! No one in my family has mentioned throwing me a shower. There is still so much time left in my pregnancy though, I'm sure that'll change soon.

i wouldnt worry about it yet, you're pretty early still. My sister (with the help of a bestfriend) is throwing one for me, but they havent done anything in regards to planning it. i just know it's going to be on june 20th (i chose the date) .. dont worry, it will happen. maybe you could drop subtle hints to get them thinking.
