So last night, my MIL (who lives 2 1/2 hours away) asked me to send her a pic of my bump..ok..no biggie right?..well first thing she reply's back was.."are you sure theres only ONE in there?!" And we have lift-off..I was ticked. THAN she calls DH and asks him if we want a stroller or bassinet from this yard sale she was at. First off, I am not above yard sailing, I actually love it. BUT certain things I would like to get new, like bedding (bassinet). She is just rubbing me the wrong way lately. Am I overreacting?
Re: MIL made my day utter crap!
I read your post and had the same thing happen to me! And I too find that sometimes things she says just gets under my skin. I have found this happens to me about once or twice a year with her. So i'm not surprised it's happening now. She said that she thought I was having a girl because girls take the mothers beauty away...something along those lines. I laughed it off and then made a mental note to add that comment to my journal where I keep all the ridiculous comments (i've gotten quite a few). And no I'm not having a girl, i'm having a boy
And then the next day she started talking about setting up her crib (that she used for my husband--28yrs ago) to be the baby's crib for when he is at her house. I LOVE my mother-in-law but I did get a little nervous with that suggestion. I politely and in conversation mentioned that maybe we'll buy her a pack-n-play for when the baby stays there...
Good luck!!!! I guess humor is the best way to deal
Thats why I have my crazy comment journal. It makes me laugh.
yeah same here, the bassinet she found at the yardsale was quote "vintage"...I don't know if that means "vintage-cool" or "vintage-baby death trap"...yunno?..lol
