Pregnant after a Loss

feeling behind....setting up the nursery

When do most people start working on the nursery?  We are having new carpet installed in the nursery and a couple other rooms, but we are waiting for them to call us (hopefully this week) to set up the installation date.  Also, I haven't even started cleaning out the closet in the nursery, because we need to buy some storage bins and one of those portable clothes closet things.  Our crib and stuff is still on lay away at the store until the room carpeted.  We have about 8 weeks until my cerclage comes out (which limits what I can do now), which means the baby can come any time from that point on.  I always have stuff done done in advance and I feel behind.

Please tell me we'll get it done!  I just feel so overwhelmed right now.....

  • No worries... My nursery might not even be done when the baby arrives because we're building our house. And if it is done before... I'll have a week or less to put it all together.

  • I feel like we're ahead of the game because we're getting our crib and putting it together today. I do have an advantage though because we moved into this house in Feb. from a 1 bedroom apartment, so we haven't had years to fill it up with storage. It's pretty much empty now except for a desk and a few pictures I can't decide if I want to hang or not.

  • We're inducing in 17 days and we have zero furniture in our nursery, we just ordered the area rug today, DH's clothes are in the closet, and the room still has our exercise bike in it. So I'd say you've got time and you are not the least prepared mommy on the planet. Hee hee.

  • I was panicked thinking I'd NEVER finish the nursery, but I got it done.  I wanted to have it done 6 weeks prior to my due date, but it was finally finished at 38 weeks :o)  Don't stress, it'll get done!!  You probably have an idea of exactlhy where you want everything so it's just a matter of getting all the furniture in and setting it up.  Can you go ahead and get the room painted at least?  That would be a huge check off your list!
  • We didn't set a date for when we wanted it finished, but we can only get any significant progress on the weekends.  We have the furniture, but it's not put together (crib) or in the room (dresser) yet because we haven't finished painting.  We've been working on the decals with an Etsy seller for over a month now, and waiting on the paint to be finished to actually order them.  I don't feel prepared either, and looking at our calendar, the nursery probably won't be ready until the end of June.
