Alright, I know this is probably a case-by-case thing, but I want to make sure my LO is getting enough.
My little man has been gaining about an ounce a day, which I think is great! I just need to make sure we are feeding him enough. He came home eating 2 ounces every 4 hours most of the time. Sometimes it would be a bit less. Lately he's been eating 2 ounces every 3 hours, and 2 feedings he'll demand a bit more so we'll give him another half ounce which satisfies him. I am guessing he won't eat as much as a term baby yet, but I need to know that 14 to 15 oz a day is plenty for him or if I should try to feed him more.
My poor body isn't producing but 12 ounces a day, so I will have to supliment with formula soon ![]()
Re: Feedings for a preemie
I am EPing. He hasn't gotten the hang of BFing. Thank you for your response. Will isn't too far off from your LO and he will be 38 weeks adjusted tomorrow. I figure as long as he is gaining weight (which he is) and has a wet and dirty diaper each change then he is doing okay. He does let us know when 2 oz isn't enough.
I hope my body can catch up to him, but if not then I have already accepted having to supliment with formula. I just home his tummy can handle the formula if it is needed. One day at a time, that's what I'm trying to live by right now.
