Well, you aren't supposed to use baby powder at all (not good for their lungs). But no, I don't use anything unless there is a rash (which we haven't had yet)

I don't use baby powder either, but I know some ppl do. That is why I threw it in there. I didn't know it wasn't good for their lungs though.

Yeah, the particles fly around and get in their lungs. Its now considered a "no-no"
I use Vaseline at every changing but we use cloth diapers ... they don't have the super duper barrier gels, etc. that the disposables have. My pedi said to use it because its a great barrier between Zaila's skin and the urine/poo. No diaper rash ever!
I stocked up on Desitin, Butt Paste and A&D but haven't used it yet. Hopefully DD will not ever need that stuff. So far no rashes so I have just wiped the bum with wipes before diapering her.
We don't even have baby powder in our house - our Pediatrician advised us not to use it .... however, we do have both Vaseline and Aquafore and I put one or the other only after I clean him up after a BM. Also whenever he has had a diaper rash.

I rarely use zinc ointment on Charlie. I try to let him air dry each diaper change, and I use cloth wipes most of the time, when we are out, I use sensitive wipes.
The chemicals in the diapers and wipes combined with not letting LO air dry, is just asking for diaper rash.

This. I occasionally use a bit of powder after poo dipes. I feel like if I were him I'd welcome a bit of extra freshness.

DD has a small diaper rash and the Dr said to do 3 steps.
Put vaseline on first, then desitin, then baby powder.
I'm super careful with the powder since I have heard of it getting in baby's lungs. So far so good.
I do it everytime until the rash clears up, then I will maybe do it every other time.
