Babies: 0 - 3 Months

I try not to compare my babies to others

but when I see that babies the same age as mine are eating 4 oz at a feeding, I think holy crap!

Mine might eat 2 oz per feeding and they eat every 3 hours.  I guess it doesn't really matter how much they are eating since they are growing like weeds.

  • 2 oz for 2wk old sounds right. My 2 1/2 month old takes 4 oz.

  • Jackson's almost 11 weeks and still takes 4 ounces during the day.  Sometimes at night he'll take 5 or 6 but that's usually only once a day.

He's a biggin', too - Was 12 lbs, 14 oz. at his 8 week appt., so, I really wouldn't worry about it.

  • 4 oz at 2 weeks seems like an awful lot
  • Most 2 week olds are not 5 pounds either.  They're just not big enough to eat that much yet, and you can't compare them to babies that weigh 3-4 pounds more than them.  Don't worry though, they will be before you know it.  You'll wake up one day to them eating 3 pancakes each for breakfast, or sharing 7 pieces of pizza for dinner.  ;)
  • I think it more depends on the babies size not really their age.  Ethan was 9 pounds 2 ounces at birth has been taking 3.5-4.5 ounces for a week now.  He never seemed satisfied with 2 ounces at the 2 week mark so I slowly increased his amount.  Now he downs 4.5 ounces so quickly sometimes...but I know his little tummy can't hold more.

Haha, tell me about it.  They don't usually eat more than me (well combined they do most of the time) but yeah some days I just have to stare in awe at the amount of food they pack away.  I'm scared for the teenage years.
