Reflux mama's who use Prevacid, come on in

Few questions for ya. How many mg per day is your LO on? If you use the Solu-tab, how do you administer it? My directions say to dissolve it in 10ml of water and use a dropper but I feel like when I do this A) it's way too much water and B) half of it ends up on her face. So I need an easier way to give it to her, can I just put it in one of her bottles?

TIA!

  • I think we have 15mg tabs and we cut it in 1/2. He gets 1/2 daily. I put the tab on a baby spoon, and put 1-2 drops of water and it dissolves. He takes it like a pro.

  • We put the pill in 4 ml of water, then used a syringe and gave with 2 ml of water.  We stopped though because it gave him horrible poops.

This exactly. It's way easier with a spoon.

I am going to try the spoon trick today.  We have been giving her half a 15 mg tab in a teaspoon of water.  I put it in a medicine dispenser that has a nipple on it but the medicine is so grainy she is not getting all of it.  I have to scoop it out and put it on her paci and hope that she will suck it.
  • If he's young the spoon thing won't work because they haven't lost the reflex to push things out of the mouths with their tongues. We do 1/2 tabs at 12p bottle and 1/2 tab at 4pm bottle and then zantac at 8 bottle. When we give it we place the syringe into the corner of her cheek and squirt some in while leaning her back A LITTLE BIT...not enough to choke her. Don't mix it with formula, juices, etc. -- it will clump up and not be as effective. The combo of prevacid and zantac has worked well for her and she has reflux BAD!!!!!!!!!!!
