Ceral Question

When did you start give it to LO?

How long did it take for lo to take to it?

My Dr said i could give it a try before our next apt which is Monday so I tried last week and the first time he laughed the whole time he thought it was a game.  The second time he cried and wanted nothing to do with the spoon same as the third time.   I gave him a few days rest in between each try.  I'm thinking he may not be ready but, was wondering what other's went through.  It seems like he's not intrested in the spoon.  At dinner i usually put a little formula on the spoon and try and give it to him that way to get use to it.  It's there anything you suggest to help him or just wait it out.  I'm going to disuss with the dr on Monday too.

Re: Ceral Question

  • I started feeding DD cereal at 4.5 months. She really didn't take much of any of it at first, but I say by the time she was 5 months old she really started to enjoy it. I have some days, where all she cares about doing is playing with the spoon. But she's not a fan of cereal period. She loves her sweet potatoes, apple sauce and banana's the most.

  • We just tried cereal on Sunday, she did fairly well with it, but we gave her a couple days in between trying again.  She did a little better the second time, but really is trying to figure out the spoon thing.  I am just going to keep trying every couple of days until she is comfortable with it.  I also think she isn't a fan of the taste of the oatmeal, she will probably like the real foods better.

I would think if you keep trying every couple of days he'll get the hang of it at some point.

  • I waited until 4 months adjusted and even then, I only gave it sporadically. They didn't like the taste. At 5 months adjusted we tried purees and they like those more but then again, we didn't give them a lot. Now at 6 months adjusted I am more consistant with purees.

  • We started solids at 6 months actual (3.5 months adjusted)... they seemed ready at the time.  We didn't start with cereal though we started with veggies and fruits.  Sweet potatoes were our first try.  We didn't introduce cereal until a month or so later.  I followed alot of the suggestions on www.wholesomebabyfood.com   They took right too and have always loved to eat... but that's not the case for all babies!  Goodluck.
