Hi Ladies,
I just wanted to pop by and say hi. My DH and I have thought about TTC again (tried for 2 years unsuccessful, took a year break) but I want to work on my weight before we TTC again. My doctor is recommending weight loss surgery to make it easier for us (I have PCOS too). I am obese according to the charts, but I do not look excessively overweight (5'6", 250 pounds). I have tried (and failed) several diets before and just can't shed the pounds to the point where the come off and stay off. I go to the gym 3-5 times a week depending on my schedule and try and eat a low carb, high fiber diet. Don't get me wrong...I do like to splurge sometimes especially during PMS moments! But for the most part, the nutritionist that I have been working with impressed with the good food choices that I make.
Has anyone here been through weight loss surgery? And if so, have you had kids either before or after surgery?
Re: Lurker/Intro
Hi I am a newbie. I also have PCOS and I am having TTTC. I recently lost 20lbs which has improved my symptoms dramatically.
Here is what I did: I watched not only what I was eating, but also adjusted my portions and counted calories. I ate somewhere between 1300-1500 calories per day. I also made sure that I was physically active on a daily basis. Myplate.com is a great site that offers a calorie counter and all sorts of fitness information. Also, I once read in a book that a person's weight is 10% excerise, 10% genetics, and 80% diet.
If the above does not work for you, I would then consider weightloss surgery. My MIL recently had bypass and a year and half later she has lost nearly 150lbs. But, like all things there are some major draw backs and health concerns assoicated with the surgery.
Regardless of what you choose to do, I hope that you are blessed with a bundle of joy sooner than later. Good luck and best wishes!
