Babies: 0 - 3 Months

what advice do you wish you had ahead of time? (Hindsight is 20 20)

or heard and ignored?  I'm curious for your answers.

Mine is to build a good freezer-full of milk before going back to work.  I pump daily for the next day (so LO always has fresh milk)... but would have loved to have some back-up.

  • i posted this on breastfeeding too

if you need to fatten up your milk and keep up/increase your supply, make sure to massage your breast while you pump. rub toward the nipple from every direction. it will help to empty your breast more completely and signal to your body that you need more milk. i usually get atleast a second letdown. it takes longer, but it's because your getting out more milk and getting that second letdown. hope this helps! oh and i EP

  • With my DS I tried to do everything by the book.  Unfortunately babies can't read, so expecting a textbook baby is very unrealistic and there is no such thing as being a perfect mother.

This time around I am much more go-with-the-flow. I now know that every stage has its challenges and eventually the tough stages do pass.

  • I have three things:

-Do not supplement with formula. It has taken me until now to rebuild my supply.

-Ask visitors to only come by at certain times, then be brave enough to ask them to leave when you've had enough.

-Be prepared to cry, for sometimes no reason.

I could go on and on..

  • I wish I'd known more about bfing and known we had a major problem before we left the hospital
  • -Ask visitors to only come by at certain times, then be brave enough to ask them to leave when you've had enough.

be ready to cry, for hours, for NO REASON-ok I knew this and it happened but someone should have told poor DH

  • My advice is don't follow any advice. Do what you think is best for your baby and family.
  • To eat way healthier and better(Even though honestly some people told me I just didn't listen...wish I had). I'm having a harder time losing the weight then I thought I would.
