Post-op appointment

I had my post-op appointment yesterday and my incisions are healing well.

Physically, I am feeling much better. I even went to the gym yesterday and felt great after my work out.

Emotionally, I'm slowly feeling better. I had an interesting conversation with Dr. S today about my job though. I think most of you know that I'm an L&D nurse. I think that because of the nature of my job, it's really starting to wear me down emotionally and mentally. Dr. S suggested that if it's getting to be too much that I look into another position. I've been thinking about this for a little while now but I'm surprised he agreed with me. He even said he'd talk to my manager about it.

So right now the plan is that in 6 weeks we will do a repeat HSG to check on the right tube. My first HSG was done by my OB and he had said that my right tube, the one that's left, the dye went through slowly. Dr. S said if that is still the case, he only feels comfortable with IVF.

    I'm so glad you are feeling better! It sounds like you have some important decisions to make regarding your career. Take care of yourself, I'm sure that's a tough job even without the challenges you've faced these last few months.

    I am glad to hear you are healing well and beginning to feel like yourself again. Hopefully the next HSG comes back with better results for you. I can't imagine going through what you had to experience and then facing what you face each day at work, that would be really tough! Hopefully you can be transferred to a different department and can continue to heal emotionally.
    6/28/10: Lost our sweet baby Addyston at 18wk 1day to pPROM 7/24/11: Michael William born at 24wk 2d due to IC after an emergent cerclage at 18wks, 4wk home BR and 2 weeks hospital BR. Grow strong our little Miracle! 9/17/11: Michael joined his sister in heaven after 8 amazing weeks with us on earth. He fought a very hard fight but NEC was too much for him in the end.     I am so glad that you are healing well.  It sounds like you have some tough decisions to make with your job, I am so glad that Dr. S. took the time to talk to you about it and offer to talk to your manager, he is so nice!  I hope you get some great results on your next HSG and will continue to keep you in my thoughts and prayers  :)

    I can't imagine being in L&D with all that you have been through. Hang in there sweetie and glad to hear that thinks are looking up and you get some answers about your right tube soon.

    This is exactly pretty much what I was thinking too.  I'm glad you're feeling better about things and I hope you find some peace on all fronts quickly.

    I am so happy to hear that you are healing well.  I hope everything goes well with your repeat HSG.  Maybe it would be a good idea to have a break from L&D, I can't imagine going through your struggles and trying to remain optimistic for your patients at the same time.  Hang in there, sweetie.  Good luck in your decision!

    Glad to hear you are starting to feel a little better but so sad you even have to go through this.  My SIL used to work in a L&D. She is unable to have kids and ended up at Children's Hospital.  She finds working there is much easier than L&D.
