I want to use it as a bassinet for the first 3 months... I don't see much difference between the two, except one has a removable bassinet (what's the point?) and changing table (can't i change LO in the bassinet?).

If there's no big difference, I'd rather not waste more $ on the pricier one.

  • I can't find the exact on we have, but this is close.  It's a Graco and has the bassinet and changing table.  It folds up really well and is great when we go visit family.  It does have wheels, but I will say that it's pretty wide so you can't really move it from room to room without collapsing it.

  • I have the chicco lullaby playard.  When my daughter was a newborn we used the bassinet feature and the changing table feature.  They both worked wonderfully, and it was soooo easy and convenient.  I have recently used it for travelling and she slept perfectly in it.  No problems.  It also had no gaps and I had no problems with putting her in it to sleep.  It comes with an attachment that plays music, vibrates, and has a light....all of these can be controlled by either the baby crying, remote control, or turning it on as needed.  Very sturdy and has great color selections.

  • OK so this review comes with the disclaimer that I am still pregnant and haven't used it with the baby yet... but...

I love (so far) the chicco lullaby lx.  We picked it because the bassinet top can be used through 15 lbs and it was well rated by both consumer reports and baby bargains.  From looking at it in the store, it looked a little bit better made than the Graco pnp, though I know those are really popular.  DH had no problem putting it up or taking it down.  The storage bag has wheels on it which is nice... though it's the most portable thing in the world.

  • I strongly recommend a PnP that has see-through sides on the bassinet portion.  The first PnP we bought had thin padding around the entire bassinet portion, and it drove me up the wall not to be able to see DS while I was laying down in bed or sitting on the couch.  As a first-time mom, I was aware of every.single.movement.  I was getting up so many times just to look in and check on him.  We exchanged it for a simpler model with see-through sides (similar to this one clicky), and it was a 1000x better.  I was actually able to sleep better!   :)

We didn't need a changing station - we have ALWAYS changed DS in his room on his changing table.  HTH!  GL!
