Hi ladies - I hope you are all having a good evening!  I keep posting here and am trying to get to know you all, but I feel like sometimes I'm not here enough to know what's going on!  Anyway, I got my blood results yesterday from all the clotting tests they did, and I thought I would share them and see if anyone has had anything similar come up.  There were three abnormalities.  Two involved the MTHFR mutation, which I have seen that some of you have.  She said even though these were abnormal, because my homocystene level was ok that this was unlikely to cause any issues during pregnancy.  It does indicate I'll be a higher risk for cardiac disease later in life (yet one more reminder that I really need to get on the exercise wagon!).

The other test was a PAI1 - she said it is the part of your clotting system that breaks down clots.  The first step is to have it re-tested to make sure the results weren't transient.  Looking at my levels, though, she doesn't think the results were transient.  If that shows up again, as soon as I get a positive HPT I will have to start daily heparin injections and continue for the whole pregnancy.  Not looking forward to that, but if that's what I have to do then so be it!  The timing could interfere with when she said we could start to TTC again, but I'll have to check on that.  Anyone else have this or have any thoughts to share?

    I am glad you got some answers I am taking Neevo for my MTHFR it helps  me to absorb folic acid ...I dont know anything about the other test...did she say if you were homo or hetero?

    She didn't use either of those terms.  She did say there should be two normal sets (not sure if sets is the right word, but...) and I carry one mutation of each.  C677T and A1298C.  I'm not sure what the difference is?  I was in the middle of teaching and kind of just kicked my student out (voice lesson) so I know I didn't ask the right questions!

    I have 2 mutations of the homo which I believe is a little worse to have  but my homocysteine levels are currently not elevated

    That makes sense, I guess!  All this DNA stuff is confusing.  I'll have to ask about the folic acid thing.  I craved orange juice so I had wondered if that meant I wasn't getting enough.  Maybe this keeps me from absorbing it and I should be taking something to help absorb it too.  Thanks Jen!
