Infertility

Remind me about meds!

Hi ladies, it has been almost a year since my FET and like 17 months since my last fresh IVF. Remind me about these meds(and we are trying some new ones) and the storage instructions! My box of drugs will be waiting when i get home!  Eeeek!!!

Follistim, Ganirelix, Menopur(new to me), Pregnyl(hcg trigger, never had this type before). Then I have doxycyclene(yuck), medrol and the crinone(which I am either getting samples from my nurse or switching to another supp)

Also I have a PNV ?, instead of a true PNV I have been taking gummy vitamins and a folic acid/dha supplement. I brought them in and my RE was fine with, the PNVs make me sick.....does anyone else do this?

SAIF/PAIF is ALWAYS welcome to respond to my posts!

Anything already mixed (follistim, ganirelix, etc) needs to go in the fridge.  Anything that you will reconstitute (Menopur, hcg) needs to be stored in a cool area.

I took PNVs so no help there.

ETA: I jsut answered about storage - sorry.

Follistim (FSH) & menopur (FSH/ LH combo that helps mature eggs) are stimming meds, Ganirelix is to prevet premature ovulation.  The pregnyl (sp?) is your trigger.  Medrol is a sertiod to be taking after ER (starting 2 days before ET I think but could be wrong).  And then you have the progesterone support.

  • Sounds like you are doing the Antagonist protocol - it is supposedly one the easiest.

Follistim has to be refrigerated (and is very expensive).  You use a pen to measure the dosages.

Menopur is a tablet that you had saline to for the injections.  My Follistim and Menopur were given together in one shot.  I can't remember - one is just FSH and one is FSH and LH.  I am sure another poster will confirm or correct me.

I don't know about the different triggers available.

    Good luck!!

  • they answered your questions well about the meds, but I think that sounds fine instead of regular PNV's. Folic acid is one of the most important things in them and as long as you are getting that and your RE is fine with it, it sounds good! GL :)
  • GL to you on this cycle.  I just got my meds as well on Wednesday but I am doing long Lupron so I will be unable to help on that front.

As to the PNV, I am technically not doing them as well.  I have difficulty swallowing pills (my PNVs were so big) so my RE told me to take Flinstone Complete chewables and folic acid pill.  She said that I would be fine doing that.

TTC since April 2008. DH: severe MFI; IVF w/ICSI X 2 = BFN. SAIFW!
