HI Ladies. DH and I are thinking of coming down to Chicago with DD over memorial day weekend. Just trying to get some ideas of some fun activities we can do, and places to go. I've been there before, years ago, but just for the shopping. Any advice you have is greatly appreciated. TIA.
Re: Planning a trip to Chicago
Navy Pier and Millenium Park are two great free options for kids. Lincoln Park Zoo is also free and is just north of downtown. Have a fun trip!
I would check the Groupon website as often as possible (https://www.groupon.com/chicago/). There is a deal and side deal every day. Today, for example, the deal is for a trolley tour ride. You can prob find a lot of "touristy" type stuff between now and Memorial Day. It only lasts a day, though, so check it in the morning and if enough people buy it, then it becomes a true deal to buy.
As someone already mentioned, Navy Pier and Lincoln Park zoo are nice free options. Although, having been to Navy Pier numerous times, you may be hard pressed to spend the whole day there and not spend any money. Sure, you can walk around the outside for free, but the Children's Museum will cost you to enter. You can always bring your lunch with you if you want to save some $$ there. There are also boat rides that leave from NP that are kinda cool (Sea Dog is one of them.)
Not sure how old your little one is, but there is an American Doll store up on North Michigan ave too.
ETA: sorry, just saw your ticker - I don't know if american girl is too much for that age.
