I don't understand how a mother can walk away from her life

The latest story about the woman in Dayton that was all over the news. She ran away with her boyfriend leaving her husband and 1 year old daughter. I don't understand how these mothers can do it. a woman i worked with left her husband and 2 kids to move to alaska to be with a guy she met on the internet. Then my uncle's wife did the same thing. She didn't move to Alaska I think it was Texas. I would never in a million years leave Ethan. I just can't comprehend these women.

I know! 99.9999999% of me totally loves my life....but there is that .000000001% of me that lets my mind drift off to wonder what if I moved to NYC after college or stayed with this ex bf or whatever. But every scenario makes me sick and I can't imagine life any other way! I would never leave my kids!

But I do think PPD/depression can do mysterious/terrible things. I mean, think about the mothers that kill their kids. Abandonment looks pretty damn good compared to that!!

My best friend's mom left her and her brother when they were 15 and 12. It made me so mad because almost 10 years later, even though she came back a few years later, I can still see the damage it has caused both of them.

My mom died when I was 9 and I can't help but think how much she would have given to stay with me, and I can't imagine women who leave by choice!

I have a half brother and sister (from my father's first marriage) who are older, but when they were young their mother left them and moved to Florida. Just up and left... no warning, no telling the kids she was leaving, literally packed up her things one day, walked out the door and never came back. One Christmas she even sent them pictures of her with them, with her head cut out of the pictures! They do speak with her now and visit her, I honestly don't understand why... I think she is evil. Though, she does want to be in their lives now. I don't think a mother should pick and choose when they want to be in their child's life. It did really affect them, especially my older sister. I just can't even imagine a mother doing something like that... so awful!
