Pregnant after a Loss

Anyone still around? I have a question

Every time I have an u/s the baby is just hanging out. Not really doing anything. At 9 weeks the little arm buds were going but then he/she decided to stop and just float around.

Today, he/she was just lying there. Didn't move at all. Granted the back was to us, so maybe the arms and legs were moving around, but from what I saw, no real movement.

I hear about people seeing the LO going crazy and kicking all around at u/s.

Is my kid the only one that is lazy and doesn't want to move?

  • Our LO wiggled some at our earlier ultrasounds but wasn't real active.  Even today she wasn't very active and I drank a can of soda before my u/s to try and get her to move!  Maybe we're just having laid back babies.  Big Smile

hmmm...I haven't been eating sugar (sweets sound gross). Maybe that has something to do with it. I am all for laid back babies. DH is pretty chill usually and I am not exactly the craziest.

Eh, even with the sugar our LO wasn't super active.  Either way I don't think it's anything to worry about.  :-)

I am not worried really because the doctor isn't worried and the hb is nice and strong, but I found it weird.

Of course now that I have posted this, once I can feel LO s/he is probably going to be kicking me in the ribs for a solid 20 weeks.

  • I dont think my girl was very active until my 18 week u/s.. At my 10 week u/s she waved a little at us (for like 3 seconds) but that was it! I had another u/s at 14 weeks but I think she was sleeping cuz she didnt move at all.

  • I think your baby is just fine. My OB told me that babies are nocturnal when in the womb. During the day, you are active so your baby is essentially on a water bed being lulled to sleep. At night time, when you are sleeping, then baby usually gets up and parties. You'll see this later when you can feel the movement.

I never thought of it like that.

Newborns are like this sometimes too. I can't tell you how many times I've had to explain this to freaked out parents!

  • Yea, it was a really cool analogy and definitely helped me to understand why DD had her days and nights mixed up for awhile.
  • It's still early girl. Maybe squish was sleeping. I didn't see Gabe move until 11 and a half weeks and he only jumped and then wiggled once. For like 3 seconds. I think I have the video on my blog if you wanna see. I wouldn't worry about it. As long as there is a hb you are in good shape : )

  • DD was lazy at almost all her ultrasounds and continued to be pretty lazy throughout the pregnancy as I could feel her.  She was born a great sleeper but is also very active when awake.  Maybe you have a great sleeper in your future!

This DD is much more active.  I wonder a lot if this baby will be very different from DD#1.

  • I wouldn't expect to see much movement that early either.  I didn't really w/ either DD.  I wouldn't worry about it and I do agree w/ pp about the nocturnal thing.
