It's like #1 knows

My whole pregnancy we've talked to DD about my belly and how there's a baby in there, the baby is her sister, she'll be living in our house, etc. She knew that there was a baby in my belly and would respond "baby" when asked what is in mommy's belly. Over the last 2-3 days it's like she knows that I'm closing in on my due date. She's been really, really clingy, wants to be held all the time, cuddling, etc. Only like this with me, not DH. Now I feel even more mommy guilt! I've been feeling guilty about throwing this wrench into her world but now that it seems like she knows what's going to happen it makes me feel even worse. Did anyones toddler do this near the end too?

  • DS did the same thing. I swear I think they can sense that it is close to time that things are going to change. DS also wanted nothing to do with DH the last couple weeks of my pg with DD, he just wanted mommy.

However, as soon as we brought DD home from the hospital he loved her and did great with her. He showed VERY little signs of jealously after she was at home.  I was relieved that he did so well because I had terrible mommy guilt. I sat beside DS crib for an hour and cried the night before I delivered DD because I felt so guilty.

I cry randomly just thinking about it. Glad to know I'm not alone!

  • My DD is doing the EXACT same thing!!
  • This is interesting!  I'll be curious to see how DD is as I get further along.

The day that I found out I was pregnant, DD cried when I picked her up at daycare.  She'd never cried before at pickup and that day she cried.  I did have a guilty twinge of "she knows!" but I know she couldn't have possibly known... it was just the timing of it I guess.

  • We are going through the same thing right now. She still acts very loving towards him, but is definitely getting clingy as my EDD approaches.
