Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Came home from the hospital and...

I can't believe how happy I am to be home with my little girl.  At the same time I find myself overwrought with concern when I lay her down to sleep.  I've been crying off and on all day.  I sure hope this goes away soon because I just want to enjoy my little precious baby.  Any support you guys can offer would be great.

Re: Came home from the hospital and...

  • i also had trouble walking away from the bassinet when I first laid her down to sleep. I did not like laying her flat. I got an inclined wedge positioner at BRU... like $20 or less, and it gave me a LOT of peace of mind. It does get better.  Now she's in her crib in her room (last night first night) and I got some peace from the monitor.  GL.

  • this sounds exactly how i was at first. don't worry, it does get better! :-)
  • Hey there! You will be alright! This is an overwhelming and exciting time. Crying is normal, but if your emotions and fears begin to take over your daily life, give your OB a call. Keep DH up to date with how you are feeling.

Good luck, and enjoy your new gift!

  • Your hormones are still all over the place. It's normal to feel overwhelmed and weepy at first. I was like that for the first week or two. Also, you're sleep deprived and that doesn't help anything. Ask for help when you need it and sleep when the baby sleeps. Your job right now is to take care of yourself and the baby. Everything else can wait. If your emotions don't even out after a couple weeks, you might want to talk to your doctor about it. Congratulations on your little girl! Things will get easier as time goes by. Pretty soon you'll get feeling back to normal, you'll get more sleep and these days will all just be a blur. :)

  • Congrats on your baby girl, it's it the most amazing experience ever!  I can completely relate to the crying at the drop of a hat over things that would have never made my cry before.  I'm sure you're doing a wonderful job and she loves you very much for all you are doing.

Try and take care of yourself and your little girl.  Like the other ladies said, everything else can wait.

  • I was exactly like this for the first couple days. A sleep positioner and an Angel Care Monitor later and I finally had some peace of mind.
