1 month old feeding schedule

How often and how much does your bottle fed 1 month old eat?

TIA!

Re: 1 month old feeding schedule

  • Ok... I have 2 answers.. I had upped her to 4 oz every 3 hours and she would sleep sometimes 4-5 hours at a stretch at night (didn't wake her to eat).  But, she got very fussy on me and had a couple of very rough nights, mostly with a fight in the middle of the night between feeds.  So, this is what she's been doing the last 2 days... 3 oz every 2-2.5 hrs, then 4 oz at bedtime... I keep her awake (or do my best) after 6pm so when she goes down for bed at like 9-10, she'll get a long stretch.  Last two nights we've been back to 4-5 hour stretches with minimal fussiness between feeds.

How much is yours eating?  I felt bad when I upped her to 4, but it seemed to make her more content.  Since backing down, as long as I don't go more than 2.5 hrs, she's content. I can't pull off 3 hours on 3 oz unless she is just really napping hard.

  • Just realized you're in Rocky Mt.  I'm in Greenville!
  • My bottle fed (breast milk) 1 month old eats 3.5 to 4 oz every 3 hours or so. Works out to be about 7 times a day. He is still waking in the night every 3 - 4.5 hours and is generally very fussy, though he is gaining weight well.

First off, I was born and raised in RM!  I live in Elizabeth City now. Smile

To answer your question...He gets a 5oz bottle every 3 hours, however sometimes he only goes 2.5 hours.  I may need to up it again-this kid can eat!  Starting around 5pm, he wants to eat every couple of hours until bedtime (about 930).  The last couple of nights he's slept for 5 hours straight.

  • Thanks girls! Your picture is ADORABLE!!

I have been feeding mine between 2.5-3 oz every 2-3 hours. I went to the dr. today and she was gaining weight so she said I could stop waking her every 2-3 hours for feedings and just let her tell me when she is hungry. I am conflicted on how much I should give her though. I feel like compared to every other baby I know she doesn't eat much.  She ate at 12:00 this afternoon and then didn't wake until 3:30 so I gave her 3 oz--I do a mixture of formula and breast milk b/c my supply sucks. She ended up spitting up quite a bit so I think that might be too much. I guess every baby is different though, right?!

  • My LO eats 5 oz every 5-6 hours.

Yeah, every baby is very different.  Make sure you are burping her like every ounce or so and the spit up may not be a problem. 3 oz every 3 hours does not sound unrealistic.  With feeding DD 3 oz, she wakes up pretty much on her own every 2.5-3 hrs to eat and more like every 2-2.5hrs if she's wide awake the whole time.
