Being a bridesmaid + nasty bloated belly issues = not cool!
I know, I know... they're all going to be looking at the bride, not me. But if anyone looks at the bulge under my bridesmaid dress and asks me if I'm pregnant, I am going to lose my mind, I just know it. I mean, let's face it, people are idiots, especially drunk people at weddings who you haven't seen in a while.
Would spanx (or something of the sort) be helpful, or will it squish the bejeezus out of me? Could it be harmful? I don't want to be in pain, but I really don't want to look 4 mos pregnant either! (I do not carry my bloat well!)
*I'm not usually superficial at all - I'm a sweatpants kind of girl, so squeezing into a bridesmaid dress on a GOOD day is not something I'd ever enjoy!
Re: spanx... helpful or terrible idea?
it's an empire waisted dress, and the other girl wearing the same dress as me actually IS pregnant - which is just great!!!!!! there are 2 other girls wearing a different style dress. figures mine's the maternity-looking type!
i was looking at some tummy-control things at a department store yesterday (not spanx), but being the paranoid nut that i am, i started thinking that maybe the abdomen NEEDS to swell a bit, and if i'm smooshing my ute/ovaries to a pulp, it certainly won't help my TTC struggle!
i told you i'm paranoid
I don't think you would actually do any harm...it just might be REALLY uncomfortable to shove bloat into something tight. That said, I would be totally paranoid as well!
How fitted is the empire waisted dress? Maybe your bloat won't even show if it isn't super fitted. Or maybe control top pantyhose will be enough to keep things held in a bit without having to resort to tummy control items.

Spanx are my bff. I have the ever present poochie belly... Here is what I have learned about spanx from my collection:
- My favorite on is the one piece that has straps. Although of course, you cant wear it with everything.
- My second favorite is the thong that comes up to your bra.
I wear a 6 in most stores. And I buy a small in Spanx... the medium didnt really help do much of anything! I am in a wedding next weekend and I am in the same boat... bloated and not feelin like climbin in a slinky dress!

I just dropped 200 bucks on spanx, but I have six, yes SIX weddings to go to this summer. I like the higher power style power panties... I am starting my Lupron tonight and have a wedding on May 15th, so it looks like the wedding might be happening right in time for ER or ET, depending on how things go (assuming the cycle doesn't get cancelled). I am also in a wedding in Sept with a girl who TTC for 1 month and is already pregnant. This might be why I just dropped 200 on spanx. If I can't be pregnant, at least I can do all I can to look good, right?
I also bought a spanx bra and I LOVE IT!!! I got the front close style w/o an underwire. Its awesome!
