Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Does your LO say anything yet?

The Bump newsletter said at 16 weeks my LO is learning consonants so I should listen for mama or dada.

When did your LO first say something recognizable and what was it?

  • Wha?  16 weeks?  Don't think so...

The most DS has said is something like "squeal, squeal, ah, squeal".

  • About a month ago Nate starting saying "Goooooh" over and over.  For like two days.  Then he stopped.  This week he picked it up again.  So cute and funny.
  • DS says Agoo quite a bit and DH insists he is trying to say "I love you" as well.  He also strings sounds together in babble-language, but looks so confident he is communicating something.  No mama and dada, though.

  • I always swear I hear her say words... so far, I've "heard" her say: oh my, oh boy, gooooo, and milk... LOL Ok, maybe she didn't really say those things, but it sure as poo sounded like it! Seriously though, at 15 weeks, the goooooo and ohhhhh are the only real languagey things I've caught so far.
  • My LO says "mmmmmgeeeeee" and "aaahh aaaahhh aaaaahh aaaaah".  He also squeals.  He's quite conversant and obviously way advanced.  Stick out tongue

  • No mama and dada here yet.  She screams MOOOOM when she is super mad.  It is heartbreaking!
  • DH claims she's said lots of things, like "I love you, Daddy" but he's full of it. She'll say "Hey" from time to time, though.

  • DD will go "maaaamamama" when she is crying because something startled her.
    bishes be crazy
  • DH swears DD can say "hello", but she can't.  It's more like "heh - row".  She also says "oh" and "ah goo" - not that those are actual words. :)
  • i swear i have heard her say.....oh boy! and hi.......but she has started saying AIY YAIY YA....with a screech at the end!

  • I've heard DS "say" mama and ow. Mostly when he's got gas bubbles. But I don't think he's truly saying them.

My DS says Mama. I'm pretty sure he doesn't know what it means but he still says it.

This! He sounds upset but it just is a new sound he learned to make this last week.  DH laughs at me because I say "mama" and DS says "grgusle" and I say "close enough!"

DD knows "mmmmmggeeeeeee" too! lol   She says it over and over when I get her pj's on almost every night. Hmmm...wonder what she means? lol

  • Mine says "owhmm, owhmm, owhmm."  I don't know what it means but he looks very serious when he says it.

    So no, nothing recognizable yet.

  • I got the same message today and he is nowhere near saying anything!
  • He says Maaaa and Owwww and others. But I love to hear the Maaaaa. I tell him that's such a good boy - keep saying Mommy. :)
