Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Am I wrong to want a schedule?

If we do evening feedings at 4, 6 and 8 (give or take) she'll only do 2 feedings at night (1 and 4:30), but if we're off routine like last night and she ate at 5 and 8 then we're up every 3 hours.

Is it fair for me to try and regulate to make sure we do 4, 6 and 8 or am I being mean mommy???

  • I think your baby is too young to try to force on a schedule.

  • you have a julianna too!!! :)

i don't think your being a mean mom. i would just try to be flexible but get into as much of a routine as possible. gl!

  • You're not wrong for wanting one, but you are being unrealistic with enforcing one. She is too young and if she's hungry at 3 and not 4 then you need to feed her at 3- even if it means a disrupted night.

    I agree.

Yeah - that is kind of what I was thinking. It's interesting that we seem to naturally fall on one of these schedules but I can't ever predict which. I'll just continue marching to her little drum.

  • The best schedule is the one that your LO sets for themselves.

DD isn't yet two months but has become quite predictable. Sure, there are times when she completely switches things up and the night might not be as nice, but we just roll with it...It is what it is. At this age, she's just too young to follow any sort of schedule I might set for her, even if it's what she sleeps best at night with...

  • I dont think there is anything wrong with wanting a schedule at all, I would just say dont be upset when LO gets off course.  I do the same thing and try to feed at 4, 6 and 8, if I can get him to do that then he will sleep til about 12 or 1 then get up around 4 and then we are up at 8.  However some nights he wants to eat more so I just go with the flow...

    Good Luck : )
