MIL got pulled over

because she swerved when texting while driving...and she wonders why I won't let her drive my kids anywhere.  Texting while driving is a BIG no for us...not to mention against the law.

Cop thought she was drunk, but still let her off.  What's the point of having it as a law ifyou let people off?  Especially if he felt the need to pull her over because she looked drunk.

  • Wow.  I totally support your decision to not let her drive your kids at all.  Stay firm because you're doing what is best for your kids.  That kind of behavior is selfish, irresponsible, terribly dangerous, and just plain stupid.  I'm irritated that the cop let her off.  It's totally worth a ticket.

  • RIDICULOUS.  I fully support your decision.  This is why I have an emergency-only cell phone.  If your children are healthy and you're just making a run to the grocery store, doctor's office, etc, there is NO REASON why your friends/family need to have 24-7 access to you, especially if you're in the car driving!  Once I realized how much useless time I was spending on my cell phone (and the $75/month bill that went along with it), I admitted that my home phone would completely serve my purposes and a prepaid phone for emergencies would be just fine.
  • I don't blame you. My former boss's 17 year old daughter died because of a texting & driving accident. She was by herself, texting a friend she was on her way to visit at college and she slammed into the back of a stopped semi-truck on the highway (traffic was backed up because of another accident). She was pronounced dead on the scene.

  • that is ridiculous!  I do not answer my phone while driving, especially when DS is in the car with me.  and texting... no way!  my mom told me yesterday she was with her class (she's a teachers aide) on the way to her a field trip and she looks out the window of the bus and watches this woman, on the interstate, driving with no hands and was looking down and texting!  how stupid can you get?
