For the curvy ladies with booties....

my birthday is coming up and I'd like to wear something nice to go out and get my dance and drink on, but have nothing to wear ;(  Any suggestions on where to shop? It's pretty frustrating.

Thanks ;)

  • The best jeans I ever found were at Old Navy, yes really.  They hug me in all the right places which I never find - no matter how expensive the jean, I've tried everything.  I would do jeans and heels.  If you're going somewhere more dressy to something that fits well up top and then is less form fitting below.  Spanx are always a necessity here too.  Good luck and have fun shopping!

  • i went to the women's section at Macy's and tried on some of the jeans there... wow!!  they fit so well!!  I've had ON jeans, but sometimes they tend to fit larger in the thighs and too tight in the waist, or some weird combo.  Plus, they never make my butt look good lol

I bought a pair of Tommy Hilfiger jeans for $30 and I LOVE them.  I also found (on sale) a pair of Michael Kors jeans for $19.99 (marked down from $100!!) and they are friggin fabulous.  Try looking at the sales rack at Macy's... The jeans were the same price as ON jeans, but fit waay better!  The MK jeans are so light and comfy, no wonder they're so expensive.  But I would never spend the real cost on a pair of jeans... I can't justify it, unless they woul dmagically make me look like a size 6 LOL

  • If you don't want to go with the jeans/FMH combo (fmh=F* me heels lol) then what about a wrap around dress?  It'll show off your curves, make the waist look thinner and you'll get a good v-neck to show off the girls!  lol  I want way too much what not to wear :-D

oh, and i agree with Dawn... spanx is a MUST!  I never wore them pre-baby, but now?  I can't live without it!

  • I love the dresses at Kohl's. LOVE THEM! Vibrant and cute stuff for all shapes and sizes.

I have always been a big NY&CO shopper. They fit my curves at all sizes.

    GL!

  • I second the Michael Kors jeans.  I also got a pair on sale at Macy's and they are really flattering.  If not, you can't go wrong with an LBD.
  • I am "curvier" and when going out I usually wear cute baby doll dresses with cardigans or long, flowy dresses that emphasize my, ahem, bosom, without squeezing the wobbly bits too much. I've found really great dresses at Macy's, Kohl's, the Limited, Banana Republic...

  • Another fan of MK jeans!  I have 2 pairs, and haven't paid over $40 for either of them!  I also have a pair of Express jeans I got on clearence that I ALWAYS get compliments on when I wear them!  It is incredible... no matter how much weight I may have gained, or how bloated I am, I always get told "you look great.... lost weight?"  LOL  If I'm not mistaken, the style is either Drew or Cassidy.

I think the key w/ jeans to look very flattering (at least for me) is for them to be real dark denim, and long.  Pair them w/ a tall heel, and you look taller, which in turns makes you look thinner... again, this is true for me.

    GL shopping!

  • Muchas Gracias Ladies!! Looks like I'm going to have to check out the mk jeans! I think that'll work w/ some nice FMH ;) good one! Ohh, and need to get me some spanx for sure!
  • At Kohls they have Vera Wang jeans that fit perfectly. I always found jeans that fit well with all my curves but flattened my rear end badly. Not a good look. Old Navy always did it unless it was the stretchy kind. I have a few pairs of those that fit nicely as well.
