Trouble TTC

do you still chart on Clomid?

Just started 100mg of Clomid. RE told me I didn't need to keep charting or taking OPKs since I will be monitored. Do you still chart? I feel like a weight has been lifted not waking up at 6:30 then analyzing and worrying about what my temps are etc.... However, I'm wondering if in a few weeks I will have wished I was charting. What are your thoughts????

Re: do you still chart on Clomid?

  • If it makes you feel better, not to temp, then stop charting, you can still chart your CM and CP if you want, but it's all personal preference, you really don't have to.

  • Now that I've started, I'm continuing charting. I don't know why, it just makes me feel better. It doesn't hurt anything and I'm not left wondering if I should've charted or not.

But, charting doesn't stress me out a whole lot. If it makes you relax a little more, don't do it. At least for a cycle or 2 to see how you feel about it.

  • I don't chart anymore. I was getting really discouraged because I never once O'd.

I will be monitored throughout the next 5 research cycles (well, hopefully less!!) so I won't have to.

    It's really a personal preference.

  • Thanks ladies! I didn't think it stressed me out. In fact, DH and I got into an "argument" last cycle because he wanted me to stop because he said it stressed me out and I said it helped because I knew when to expect everything. I won, thankfully, because I didn't O until CD51 and would have gone crazy not knowing! Now that I stopped though, I do feel less stressed but I don't know if it's because I have a plan and someone else monitoring me or just from stopping charting. I think I'll sit this one out and see how I feel next cycle (fingers crossed for no next cycle!)

  • Like the others said, it's a personal choice. Not charting would stress me out. I charted last cycle on Clomid, and have continued this cycle as well. I also use OPK's, but don't start them until after CD10 so I don't get a false surge while still on Clomid.

I'm a control freak and having to wait for the appts with my RE would drive me mental.

  • When I took Clomid I still charted those two cycles.  I found it helpful for me.  I wasn't being monitored either though.

This is me also.  I'm in my first (and probably only) cycle of using Clomid, and I like having the chart.  If we move on to IVF, I'll stop then.

  • I'm being monitored and I still chart anyway.  I like to monitor my temps 9dpo-AF to be able to overanalyze and make myself crazy.  Seriously.  I think I would be worse off if I didn't.
  • No.  I gave up charting several months before I even went to the RE.  My charts were showing that everything was fine, but I wasn't getting pregnant, so I figured the charting was a waste of my time, and causing unneeded stress.

  • If it helps, keep it up. If it just stresses you out- quit. I plan to keep charting even though my RE told me that it wasn't necessary.

I found my uncharted cycles incredibly stressful. Bad enough that my husband didn't even blink when I said I'd keep charting- he was happy because I'm a miserable person when I don't have some tiny sense of control.
