Babies: 3 - 6 Months

How to do CIO (of some kind) with an older child & grumpy DH?

Georgia sleeps beside our bed, and our older DD's room is right next door....

I would like to start trying some kind of CIO to help baby girl learn to self soothe, however......I don't want to risk waking our older DD...and DH tends to get pretty miserable when his sleep is disturbed (he also has a very physically intense job).

What should I do?  ** Or, should I do nothing, and wait to see if this is just the 4-month wakeful phase?**

  • Personally I would try to move DD to her own room before you try CIO.  I feel like the whole point of using the CIO method is to teach LO to self soothe and to be okay in their own room to sleep.

The thing is, is that baby girl will be sharing a room with big sister :-(

That's a hard one.....because if you do get LO to sleep well in your room you may be starting all over again when you move LO to Big Sister's room.
