This is a list of women who are dealing with PCOS. Anyone can join in, so let me know if you want to be on this list! We can keep track of everyone?s cycle, offer advice, and support for each other. We check in every week, and the check-ins can always be found in the PCOSbio.
Good luck and lots of sticky baby dust to everyone!

Let us know how you are doing. If you have any questions for the group to answer, feel free to ask.
QOTW: Question from melaniejt: I've been told I should see an RE because of my PCOS, and wasn't told about what that was until just a couple days ago, but only been TTC since July '09. Should I stop seeing my doctor now and try to see an RE, or is it too early? I'm really worried.
Re: ~*~*~ PCOS Check-In ~*~*~ SAIFW
QOTD: I've been TTC since July of '09, also. I had to wait for a referral from my OB, but just saw the RE yesterday. I would ask for a referral now if you're not seeing any progress with your OB. I don't think it is too early since you have a diagnosed fertility issue.
Update: I'm now on Metformin, and will be doubling my Clomid dose next cycle, and also extending it to CD 2-9. We're having an SA done and should know the results Wed. There's a suspected androgen secreting tumor on my ovary and I hope to find out a little more about that when I get the SA results.
SAIF Always Welcome
Diagnosed with PCOS: 10/03, On BCP to "treat" until: 7/09
Provera to end Cycles 1-9 (anovulatory)
Cycle #4 & 5: Clomid 50 mg FAIL
RE Visit: 2000 mg Metformin
Cycle 6:Forced Break, looking for androgen secreting tumor
Cycle 7:Clomid CD 3-10, 12-17 FAIL
Cycle 8: Clomid CD 3-10, Bravelle CD 12-24 Hyperstimmed
New RE: Put on Byetta, lost 23 lbs
Cycle 9: Financial Break
Cycle 10: Femara CD 3-7, IUI CD 17 BFP on 2/14/11, m/c 3/7/11
I am still in the 2ww. 7dpiui. Nothing to report other than the sinking feeling that I am not PG.
QOTW: If you have a dx, it's never to early to see a RE. I had to sweet talk my OBGYN in to sending me to one after 9 months.
For this child I prayed, and the LORD has given me my petition which I asked of him.

Update....still waiting for AF and for a 39mm cyst to go down. Hoping I can start BCPs soon!
QOTD: Definitely never too early to see an RE, especially with a dx. GL, I hope you find one you feel comfortable with.

QOTD: Never to early to see an RE if you have a dx. Waiting for time to pass when you know for certain that something up doesn't make much sense, and the RE won't think you came too early with your dx. GL!
it's me, andreag1981--please delete that account, i lost access to it somehow! my new login is ALY1981
Currently taking Clomid 150 mg, currently on day 5. Due back to the RE next Wednesday for Day 11 bloodwork/ultrasound. Hoping for an IUI! Let's hope the meds get me there this time around...
lots of luck to everyone
Diagnosed PCOS & MFI-Success with IUI
Update: Not much to update. Just started femara and dexamethasone for IUI #2 and being super bloated because of that. I am reading a new book A Few Good Eggs which I think is sort of funny and has pretty decent information although I've already learned a lot of the information in the book it was just nice to feel validated.
QOTW: I would definitely go ahead and go to the RE if you have a dx. It can take awhile to even get in. Plus, I waited over the 1 yr mark because I wasn't 'ready' - or rather didn't want to face the fact that we were having problems and now I regret it because I feel that I sort of wasted that time.
QOTW: Question from melaniejt: I've been told I should see an RE because of my PCOS, and wasn't told about what that was until just a couple days ago, but only been TTC since July '09. Should I stop seeing my doctor now and try to see an RE, or is it too early? I'm really worried.
It is never to early to see an RE is you have a PCOS diagnosis! You should definitely switch to an RE. Good Luck!
Update: Today is CD9 and I am waiting to have my follie scan next wednesday for IUI#3. OMG the Clomid headaches!!!! hate them.
Update: I had my SHG, ultrasound/pap/bloodwork for the research study on Monday this week. They gave me more provera, which I will start once they call with all my results, probably late next week. I'll start the study meds CD3 of my next cycle. I'm so excited to be moving forward!
QOTW: I was seeing an OB prior to starting the research study, but now I'm seeing the RE through the study and it seems like it's better care. I may have switched sooner (even without the study) if I'd known.

Good morning everyone!
I'm on CD4 today, started 100mg of Clomid last night. Now it's just a waiting game until the first follie check next Wednesday. I hope I have some good news to share with you all next week!!
QOTD: I started with my RE when we had been TTC for less than 6 months. I had been off the pill for a year and a half and didn't cycle (had AF once in that time). My gyno didn't waste any time referring us. It's not too early. If you're not cycling there is no way you can get pg. And you want an RE to be monitoring you if you start medicated cycles.
Diagnosed with PCOS March '10 - Started 1000mg of Metformin

I'm new to the IF board (and kinda sorta new to the bump in general, started in Feb)...planning on making my formal introduction to all you lovelies this weekend
BFP #3 via cancelled IUI ~ C (2lb 3oz; HELLP) 5/16/11
BFP #4 via the natural (free!) way ~ E (8lb 11oz) 9/13/12
I'm in the 2ww. I'm at 8dpo today. I'm still trying to get DH in to do his SA. He is reluctant but it needs to be done. I'm really tired of the s/e from the Prometrium. It seems to be much worse this month than it has been in the past. I've done oral in the past and this month I was given suppositories, I'm guessing that is why the s/e are different.
QOTW: Go see an RE. When I moved to this area, I was actually able to find several doctors that are OB/GYN/RE. My current doctor is one. She has seen me for all of my regular annual exams/check-ups, is now seeing me for TTC, and will continue to see me through delivery if I get pregnant. Afterward, I will keep her as my regular GYN once again. For me it has been really nice having the same doctor for everything. She already has my entire history and has known me for a long time. It makes it all very comfortable knowing I don't have to deal with referrals and switching doctors. Just a suggestion.
Update: I start Lupron tomorrow in preparation for my FET
QOTW: Question from melaniejt: I've been told I should see an RE because of my PCOS, and wasn't told about what that was until just a couple days ago, but only been TTC since July '09. Should I stop seeing my doctor now and try to see an RE, or is it too early? I'm really worried. I would go see an RE asap. PCOS has many different symptoms and severtities and is a hormonal imbalance that should be dealt with.

~SAIFW/PAIFW~
CD 12 here. Finished my 50mg of clomid on Sunday. RE had me start opk's today. I was waiting to post this until I tested hopping I?d have some good news. Today was negative, so I will test again tomorrow. If positive U/S and IUI on Sat. If negative follie check at noon to see if I even responded to the clomid. Earlier this week I was feeling really positive about responding to the clomid now that I have lost some weight and got on met. Today not so much, guess Ill find out tomorrow. I did print off a free trial coupon for Femera to take with me tomorrow incase I didnt respond. I am so done with clomid.
QOTW: I remember when I first posted on here back in sept or oct someone telling me to not wait until Jan to go see a RE like I planned. I couldn?t have made my appointment any earlier b/c of insurance but I do feel like I lost 3-5 months once you figure in all the testing your RE will want to do.
Last check in I said I hadn't gotten my dx yet but seriously suspected PCOS. Well I saw my Dr. on Tuesday and while she didn't test (she said we'll discuss that after I get some blood work done) she did agree that I probably have it. She prescribed me provera and today was my fist day taking it.
I'm hoping to go do my blood work next week, DH and I are just trying to find a time to go (we only have 1 car) but he works at the hospital so I'm thinking I'll drop him off at work then go.
I just want a dx already! I don't like not knowing.
Under the weather right now, most likely a decent sinus infection, wonderful. Other than that...not too much to report. I go to acu every two weeks and we will try some herbs out while on this break.
QOTD: I don't think it's too early to make an appt for an RE. You are your own best advocate and if you don't think that your doc is as knowledgeable with PCOS or you feel llike you aren't getting the best care, you should move on. I wasted too much time before going to my RE.
Currently pg with our 1st after 6.5 yrs of IF (thank you IVF)

Update: Nothing.
QOTD: I'd recommend you go now. By the time you get to your appointment day (they usually are a month or so out) and then everything underway, you very well could be close to the 1 year mark.
TI, IUIs, IVF = c/ps and BFNs
Right now I am waiting to see if I O this cycle... yea, the wait sucks.
QOTD: Never too early if you have a dx, in my opinion. I'm glad my ob/gyn sent me after 2 crazy long cycles.
Update: Currently 5dpiui, waiting impatiently! My first 2ww ever (!)
~Life After Infertility~
Update on me: Currently on CD4, still on Metformin and Synthroid, going back next week to get my thyroid levels checked to see if this new dose of Synthroid is working well for me (bumped up in January).
QOTD: Having PCOS doesn't necessarily mean you'll have issues TTC so I wouldn't think it'd be necessary to go to an RE before 1 year of trying... however there are issues with PCOS such as IR that would be helpful to know about ahead of time. I would go ahead and make an appointment since you may not be able to get in right away anyway. Good luck!
Update: Had 1 maybe two good follicles as of Tuesday so I triggered that night (they said my body might already be starting to ovulate) so to be on the safe side we did my IUI yesterday morning. Beta is May 5th so I'll just be going crazy until then:P
QOTW: YES! See the RE... since you have a diagnosed disorder they'll definitely see you before the year mark of trying. While it is possible to get pregnant without help with PCOS... it's REALLY hard to do and I'm sure having a plan and help from the RE will make the process much less frustrating... or at least more productive:) Good luck!
QOTW: I would not wait. Make your appt now- I know it took four months to get in for our first RE appt anyways.
Update: We finally have the ball rolling- started Clomid and anxiously waiting to see if I O to proceed with IUI#1.
update: waiting for AF, finished all our testing! My sono show PCOS, but my b/w is all completely normal. Femara + Ovidrel for the next cycle
QOTD: I say call the RE, by the time you get the appt, schedule testing and complete all the testing, you will be a year anyways
Right now I am waiting until June to start injectables and then do our procedure (FTSP), unless I am knocked up this month.
QOTD: I was only TTC for about 6 or 7 months when I told my OBGYN that I wanted to see an RE because I knew something was wrong. I would probably try to get a referal to an RE now instead of waiting.
Well I got a referral to an RE at the fertility clinic, but my insurance wont cover any kind of fertility treatments until September. So I'm going to really buckle down on trying to lose weight in hopes that it will help me along on my ttc journey.
QOTD- It's never to early to try and get a referral, especially since you have a diagnosis.
Sign me up, please. My name is Lindsey and we have been TTC since April '08 with a PCOS diagnosis since July '09. My stats are in my siggy.
QOTD: I don't think it's too early since there is a diagnosis. An RE will probably be better equipped to help than an OB. If you have to have a referral, I'd see if you can get one... it doesn't hurt to try. Best of luck to you!
