I wear a nursing bra with a regular tank from Target with no shelf in it but adjustable straps. I make the straps long to go below my chest so the tank's purpose is to cover my gut.
if you want to wear a bra, i would get the liz lange camis with no shelf from target. they are a nice cotton stretch with a thin strap that would make them easy to pull down.
i was a 38 FF and wearing the Glamourmom. i always talk about them and i really found they were the only thing that could hold up my girls. even now, a year later, i am a 36 D and still wear them. they are more $ but are built to last- i am still wearing the ones from when T was a baby and i wore them between kids too bc they were so supportive and comfortable!

If you don't mind me asking - what size did you get in these? Pre-baby size I am a 28E so I have to buy bras in a 32E and get them altered. I can't seem to find a nursing tank top that would work. If I get the XL then it looks like a tent on me since I would really need a S or a M to fit around the rest of me. Did you find this was the case with these, or did they fit well all around?
I was an "e" BEFORE having a baby, and this is what I did: for the most part, I wore a nursing bra, a strapless Spanx camisole in black worn under a regular tank or t-shirt. It allows you to pull up your whole shirt from the bottom, without exposing the stomach or having the snap come down from the tank strap exposing the top of the boob. I know this is essentially a homemade nursing shirt, but it was more convenient for me and nursing shirts never seemed to fit or look right.

Strapless camisoles? They make strapless camisoles? Dude, I feel so out of the loop. That sounds awesome. The high tech version of what I've been doing.

OK, you've just convinced me to get the Glamourmom tank.. I've been eyeing them, and I already wear a 38F (and haven't grown yet during pregnancy) and finding bras is pretty daunting.
Of course, it figures that I could easily be right in between sizes....

Where did you get your nursing bras from? The ones I am seeing online only go up to a DD ....
I just tried on the GlamourMom nursing take I bought a while ago in an XL. While it does seem to hold well, the rest of it is so big on me that it gaps around my armpits so it would look weird by itself or under another shirt. If I got a L I don't think it would hold the girls .. the XL barely does. I think your method may work if I can find a nursing bra that would fit!
The bra I wore at the beginning was from Motherhood with an underwire (they go up to a G). I am an underwire gal, but I know other people differ considerably.
My favorite was a Target bra that just randomly fit and is incredibly attractive for a nursing bra. https://www.target.com/Gilligan-OMalley-Lace-Underwire-Nursing/dp/B000KKWUPI/ref=sc_qi_detaillink I found for the most part that all the nursing bras would just gap and I was looking for something that I felt I had more support. I went up considerably in the strap (up 3 sizes-from a 36 to a 40 or 42, I think) and bought a DD. They were definitely "sitting pretty" and looked like a push-up bra, but that is the bra fit that I prefer anyway. After the first few weeks the gals went down a bit in size (or just weren't so sore) and that is when the Target bra worked the best.
I like the Target nursing tanks in a Large. I've bought 3 Glamourmom tanks from Babysteals. 2 are size XL. 1 of them I really like and wear all the time but the other one...I hate. The straps suck on it and it's not as supportive. It's my last resort tank. However, neither of these are really long.
The other one I got has lace on the bottom and I love it. It's a L and it's tight, longer, and stays down. Plus, it actually fits my boobs better.
I have no idea what size I am because I bought the Bravada bras that come in S/M/L size and got the L.
YAY! another Glamourmom fan, I absolutely adore these tanks as well. If you are busty I would recommend their Full Bust Long Top! They are built for women that need the extra support. What I really love about these tops are that they not only do NOT create the uni-boob look, the have an adjustable chest band in the back so you can adjust to your chest/rib size.
They also come 4inches or so longer than the regular length tanks to give full tummy coverage. Yes, they are a bit more pricey than the others, but it's definitely more value for your buck. The tanks do last for a long time.
Since you have a small band, most tanks won't work for you. I was a 32D, now a 32F, and the fitter at A Woman's Work told me to expect to be a 32H when my milk comes in. I went on the Bravado website and ordered some tanks in 32 F/G.
Go to A Woman's Work and Intimacy for fittings and advice - they're great!

I love them!
the spanx ones https://www.amazon.com/Spanx-Hide-Sleek-strapless-camisole/dp/B0007YZBG2
And apparently now they have some more affordable than spanx--here is a jockey one https://tinyurl.com/yyjbblv
