Babies: 0 - 3 Months

XP: Torticollis

Anyone's DC have this? The EI therapist mentioned we should be on the lookout for it, since DS holds his head to the left whenever gravity is involved (on tummy, sitting up). If your DC had it, how did you diagnose/ correct it?

Re: XP: Torticollis

  • Don't know much about it, but my cousin's DS has it.  They've gone to a chiropractor and are now going to a physical therapist.

  • DD has had it since birth. We are starting physical therapy this week-referral given by pedi. Lots of tummy time, sitting straight up in my lap (midline), neck and shoulder massage.I believe we were told a few months of therapy will correct it. But the quicker you start it the better, as their necks will start to get hard in that position and turning their heads in the unfavored direction will become very uncomfortable. Already noticing it with DD. Good luck!

Also, every city/county has a program called Infants and Toddlers-they take care of 0-3 year olds. It is a free program-paid for by tax dollars. A rep will come to your house and will assess your child to see if you qualify. We are getting free pt at our house! Definitely look into it-it is run through the school district I believe?! Page me if you have any ?s about it.

  • DD was diagnosed with Torticollis when she was a few weeks old.  We had to go to PT and they taught us excersizes to do at home 3-5 times a day.

It took about 3 months but she does not tilt anymore.
