Please keep my nephew Daniel and the rest of our family in your T&P tomorrow. He's getting a bilateral cochlear implant tomorrow at 10am. I think its about a 4 hour surgery and he'll stay overnight for observation.
(And a related update....)
D saw the eye specialists at Duke on Monday and he can see normally out of both eyes. They put a patch on his strong eye to help the weak eye recover. (It doesn't open fully and the pupil doesn't really move.) They expect it to regain strength and mobility very well. Yay for great news!
Re: T&P for Daniel's surgery tomorrow
Lots of prayers for your family tomorrow.
FWIW, I have a boy in my swim group this week (2nd grader) who has double cochlears (I'm sure I've said that wrong, but you understand) and he is AMAZING! He was adopted from Russia and had this done when he was 3-4yo (I can't remember exactly). He doesn't wear them in the water (obviously), but still has a blast and plays our games with no problems. He can speak (it sounds a little different, but not much) and fits in just like all the other kids. Just wanted to share a really positive situation to hopefully provide some encouragement for the future!

I will definitely be thinking of Daniel and your whole family! Keep us posted!
That is great news about his eyes--Wow!
Catching up on sports news...
Good luck to him and that is great news about his eyesight. Hopefully the implants will work perfectly and he will be like new again
I assume he will be at PCMH? If so, I'm sure he is in good hands. Keep us posted!
