TTC after 35

**MAH**

I had my methotrexate(sp?)shot today. Did you have any cramping, bleeding, or anything? I just don't know what to expect, if anything, from it. They also told me a list of things I can't do (no folic acid, no aspirin, no antibiotic) were you also told this? If so, is it just for the day get the shot? I was being thrown a bunch of info and forgot ask them all this. Since the office is closed now, I thought I'd take a chance that you might know/remember. Thanks for your help.:-)

Re: **MAH**

  • I don't remember having any cramping, but I did start to spot/light flow once my betas started dropping (my betas were around 5,500 and didn't start dropping ubtil after 48hrs) and it lasted until I was below 100. MTX can be hard on your liver, so I remember no alcohol for 2 weeks and that would be my guess about the antibiotics. Mtx is actually a folic acid antagonist, so taking FA decreases the effectiveness and I think the asprin has to do with how the drug is excreated from the kidneys. Ithink the emtional rollercoaster was the worse part of it. Good luck and I hope your betas are 0 before you know it!

  • Thanks this was helpful. The nurse did tell me about the no alcohol since I rarely drink that wont be an issue. I also had to go for blood for liver, cbc, and a couple other things I can't think of. I have to repeat that blood work next week. My beta was 315 on Monday so hopefully it will start to drop quickly. Thanks again.:-)
  • sorry no advice but hope you start feeling better!
