They have one size diapers, they don't usually fit newborns very well though. We have a CD store locally, but that's not all that common, so depending on if there is a CD store near you (you can look this up on google) you might have to buy online. Most likely you will end up buying something from the internet for CD's though. To me they are not gross to clean, righ now I just dunk the diapers in hte toilet and most of the poo comes off that way, the little that is left gets washed out.
I would start by researching on the internet the diffrent types of CD's and how much they cost.
depends what kind of diapers you get... if you do prefolds (cheapest) then you do need to buy new ones as they grow, but they are cheap. we mainly use these for everyday use. Then we have thirsties wraps that are also sizable, so they last for awhile, i think eventually we do have to buy a new set of them, for when she's way bigger. Then we have a couple of one-size-fits-all Bum Geniuses, which i LOVE... if they weren't so expensive i'd use them more often. but we have three of those, and i use them for short trips or when we're out and about. And those will fit for a good long while. At night, we use eco-friendly disposables (Nature Baby Care) because LO gets bad diaper rash with CDs overnight.
It wasn't gross while she was EBFd- super easy. but now that we've started rice cereal and we give her formula some nights, its definitely grosser... but well worth it, i think .
I recommend going on: www.jilliansdrawers.com and looking around, they have tons of useful information and you can do trials, etc. that's where i buy the majority of my diapers (and prefolds from green mountain). and you can find some diapers in stores, but i think online is easiest.
Do you have to buy bigger sizes? Well it depends what CD route you go. We have Bum Genius 3.0 pockets. They have snaps so they grow with baby. Pockets are the most like disposables but the chinese prefolds with thirsties covers IMO are probably the cheapest and from what I've heard (we don't use them) they work just as well and grow with baby
We bought all of ours online because we really dont' have CD shops here by my house that I know of. We bought ours from www.cottonbabies.com
Are they gross to clean? In a word, No. Our diaper pail smells but it has a cover and when it is closed you can't smell it.
IMO, CDing is a bit more work but it isn't that bad. Worth it!
We use Bum Genius Organic AIOs--they are expensive but don't require any stuffing/folding, can be used from 7-35lbs, and are super easy. All you do is adjust to LO's size, wash/dry, and use them again. They are by far my favorite and aren't as bulky as some other cloth diapers. I do buy them online although there is a local store which sells them as well.

As far as being gross to clean--because they don't require stuffing, you don't have to do anything with the dirty diaper except throw in a wet bag and then in the wash. Once LO starts eating solids, I plan on using rice liners to catch the poop and dumping it in the toilet.

We have sized fitteds + covers because that was the route I decided to take.
Sized diapers will get less wear and tear than one-size so if you are planning on having more kids they will likely last longer.
Though I've heard RAVE reviews about softbums they are spendy but they are truly one size diapers (even nb's) they have a pull tab system.
I'd love to get one, but like I said they are spendy.
You can buy them at cloth diaper stores if they are in your area. Otherwise yup online. Google Jillians Drawers, they have a great try for 3 week offer for $10 lets you try all the options, prefolds, fitteds, pockets, AIO's and then you can figure out what works for you.
I don't think they are gross to clean, the washer does most of the work. And you can get a diaper sprayer to deal with poo.
