Well, this is my first post here as my baby was unexpectedly born on Saturday at 6:33pm after my water broke at home at 6:20am.
She was 33w5d and they gave me the steroid shot and tried to get me to hold out until Monday or at least 24 hours, but my body didn't cooperate. She was breech, so I knew I'd need to have a section, but by late afternoon I was already 7cm so they went ahead and did the section.
I have no idea why I went into preterm labor. I hadn't had any major complications and was doing pretty well. No placental abruption or infection.
I've kept myself in check throughout this pregnancy - I haven't been weepy or hormonal or anything, but it's so hard for me to look at her or think about her without dissolving into a ball of tears.
Anyway, I just wanted to introduce myself and share my story. I'm sure I'll be relying on people on here to help get my though everything. It's been so great reading my friend's comments on my FB who shared their stories and it has helped a ton, so I'm hoping to receive and then give here once she gets older and stronger.
Re: Hi there
congratulations on your little girl!
we're sorry you're here, but happy to help in any way we can. your feelings are totally normal. these ladies are awesome.. feel free to ask any questions or vent as needed.
Welcome! My story is similar to yours: water broke at 32 weeks. All had been well; I'd even been to the doctor that day. When I got to L&D triage, I was 8-9cm, BP was high, and DS was breech. So I had a c-section about 3 hrs. after my water broke. My OB says I had sudden Pre-E and my water could have broken b/c of the Pre-e.
Just want to let you know that 32+ weekers are typically feeder/growers and have minimal problems. For us, it was all about learning to take a bottle and control the reflux.
Let us know if you need anything!

Congratulations on your little girl.
I hope she continues to do well.
Congratulations on your little girl!!
It is totally normal to feel the way you are feeling, sometimes having a good, loud cry was the most therapeutic thing I could do for myself. I would sit in his nursery with one of his NICU blankets (that I stole) and just have a good cry. The cat used to look at me like I was nuts.
We all understand the rollercoaster you are on right now with a baby in the NICU, if you ever need anything (even just to vent), we're here for you.
Congrats on your new arrival!
