NTTCR vent

Well, I realized today that I am not cut out to be a landlord. Our tenants moved out today.... The place is gross. They were apparently smokers, they burned a hole in the lenoleum in the bathroom and the house stinks of cigarette smoke. The walls & celing are stained with nicotine. We were only there for about 1/2 hour & I reeked, I had to come home and take a shower and throw the clothes in the laundry.

So, I'm silly, but I cried I'm so sad & mad about how they left the place. Now we get to clean & probably paint and possibly replace the carpet. We are going to put it on the market even though the market is still crappy. I won't probably even get what I paid for it. But I don't think I could stand to rent it again and have maybe even worse done to it.....

I would have never left a rental place the way they did.....

UGH! Thanks for letting me vent.

Ugh!! I'm sorry I'm often astonished by how gross, inconsiderate, sucky and lazy people can be. And I'm lazy but I would never leave a rental property that way..I'd be too embarrassed and ashamed. Plus, my mom taught me better. I hope that you can sell it and not lose to much.

Ugh smokers are the worst!!! Ick! You probably will have to paint to get the smell out (sorry.) I'm with you on not being a landlord. I have never wanted that kind of responsibility. I hope you get a decent price selling it. I am sure it will be nice to be rid of it.

Some people just have no respect for others. Renting property is exhausting.i have friends who do it. Paint should take care of the smell. Good luck!

That stinks...literally!! I am too a landlord for my downtown condo because of the market and that is my worst fear is finding it in worse shape! I hope you kept the security deposit and use part of it to get a cleaning service that does move in/move out cleaning as they really hit every nook and cranny and well worth the $. Also when you paint...use Kilz primer first as that will kill the smoke smell before you paint. Sorry you have to deal with this...(hug to you).

Oh, that totally sucks! I hope you kept the security deposit! I always left my rentals spotless...though my landlords were always management companies and not individuals. I would scrub the place from top to bottom (which I thought everyone did), until a few friends said, "What are you doing? Just sweep up--they hire professionals to clean before the new tenants move in." But I was so afraid of not getting my money back, I didn't want to take any chances.

I'm sorry, Shyn. There are some pretty selfish people in the world. I'm painting two rooms in our house this week (it is my school vacation). I'm kind of in a groove. . . I wish I could fly over and help you!
