we were just going back and forth on this..... i registered for a video monitor and the angelcare monitor.
my shower was saturday and i got the angelcare. i really want the video as well so i can see what's going on in baby's room... my husband doesn't understand why we need 2 since "we didn't have all that crap when we were that small...." i understand his point, but at the same time it's piece of mind. oy.
curious to see what others are doing, and if i'm crazy or if he needs to be welcomed to 2010.
Re: which monitor do you have / or are getting?

we had the orginal one that isnt digital and it had HORRIBLE feedback. I know 4 people who have had issues. this one is great, no static and its $20 cheaper than the other. Its 159 at target.
LOVE it. I was so against video monitors, but not only do they help with you feeling better about baby being in another room. BUT they help when you have an active baby. Ds will get his leg stuck and I can see he's not just crying bc he's tired, he's really hurt. I can also see if hes trying to climb out, or if hes crying in his sleep and will go back to sleep. If I hear him stir, I dont have to hold my breath and wait for a cry, and I look and see he is still asleep and go back to what I was doing. LOVE it.
in the beginning, yes you look at it alot. but now I use it as a sound monitor with benefits. I only look when I have to.
We also got the summer handheld video monitor. We haven't used it with baby yet, but charged it and tries it out this past weekend. It's nice and has a decent picture.
My one friend got a video monitor with her baby 3 years ago and she still uses it with him today. Just to see if he's really going to sleep or if he's just playing around.

We got the Sony Babycall 900 MHz monitor - based on the reviews in Baby Bargains and from reviews on the BRU and Amazon websites. We are thinking of getting the Angelcare monitor, too. LO will be in a PnP in our bedroom for the first few months, so we're holding off on buying the Angelcare until later.
I thought I saw a post floating around yesterday about whether the Angelcare monitor will work with the PnP bassinet. I don't remember what the responses were, but if it does work, I'll probably just get it now. I think it would just give me peace of mind. My friends with kids swear by this one.
I don't know which one we're getting because IL's are buying it for us... but I just had a sidenote: A friend of mine has a video baby monitor, and if she turns it to a different frequency, she can see her neighbor's baby!!!!!!! Creepy!!!
get a digital secure one, you cant see others babies and vice versa. With the original handheld you can. but that ones analog, and has channels. with the digital secure one its not the case.
I used our angelcare when DD was in bassinet and it worked fine. It wasnt PNP, just reg bassinet.
It does, we've used the Angelcare in both the top and bottom our PnP. The only thing is, it needs a solid/flat surface, so you have to put something underneath it (we use the lid from a rubbermaid). As an FYI, it also doesn't create any interference with the Babycall, we just bought that one as a second one so we can use it for our toddler (still in a crib but doesn't need the motion alarm) and switch the Angelcare to the PnP for the new LO. (In other words, if you think you might need a second some day sound only, keep the Sony! Graco Sound 'n Lights created mega-interference...)
