Northwestern (Prentice) class - Infant CPR

We took this class tonight.  It's a 2.5hour class that goes over infant cpr, child (age 1-8), cpr,  what to do for an infant/child choking, and finally - car seat stuff (installation, etc.)

Just giving it a big ole' thumbs UP in case anyone was thinking about taking it.  It's one of those classes where you obviously think, "I hope to God I never have to use this..."  A lot of practicing done by both you and your partner.

The class ended with a dvd about car seat installation, it's not like anyone inspected your car seat or anthing (don't want to mislead anyone there.)  But they do give a list of recommended phone numbers if you need your car seat checked out.

Re: Northwestern (Prentice) class - Infant CPR

  • I higly recommend every parent to take a CPR and carseat safety class.  We did the carseat safety class at CDH and it was free.  I also take CPR every year or 2 years depending on which class my job offers.  I also made DH take CPR too.  You never want to have to use it but at lease you know just in case the unthinkable happens.

  • Yep, I forgot to add - even if you *think* you know CPR, but haven't done a class recently, still go to one.  My husband used to teach a cpr awareness type class to police officers a few years ago and MANY things have changed even in that short amount of time.  He was amazed and was so glad he went and didn't just think "oh, I know what to do."
  • Thanks for reviewing this! I will definitely add this to our to do list.
